So, I was able to get into both the apple store and a verizon store...and I tried both.

Removing network reliability for the time being....



there's NO comparison.


The Blackberry Storm BLOWS the iphone out of the water. I spent a good 30 minutes with the iphone and couldn't type worth shit on it. I spent more time correcting miskeyed letters than I did typing...it was dreadfully frustrating. That's a complete deal breaker for me. If I'm going to spend the extra coin on data, I want something I can email from.

I walk into the verizon counter at the local circuit city...the guy hands me the phone. within a few minutes, I had a full email typed out with ZERO errors or corrections (unless I intended to misspell a word)....the touch screen keyboard that comes on the Storm is light years above and beyond the iphone.


Once you then factor in the removable battery, upgradable memory, the better/clearer screen, the easy to use UI of the Storm....it's a clear winner.


Then....when you add in the reliability of the verizon network (I know, I sound like a fucking commercial, but seriously...their network is better than At&t's) it's a turkey shoot.


I'm going with the blackberry and verizon...

Thank you Frank, for the review. I appreciate it. I have seen the ads for the Storm and am really interested in purchasing it. I am already a Verizon customer and am considering upgrading. Glad to hear it is easy to use!

It really blew me away....it took me 20-30 minutes in the apple store to convince myself that I could possibly get used to it with some hard work....

When you have to spend 20 minutes to wrap your arms around something, it usually means it's not worth it.

However, it took me 2-3 minutes to completely fall in love with the storm...

Thanks for helping me make up my mind. I have a new every two years phone coming to me from Verizon, so I'll be able to knock a $100 off the Storm. I've been debating going this route for awhile, so this makes it much easier to decide.

Damn, the storm looks awesome. can't wait to get my hands on it

i really have no issues. i use my knuckle to type (my nails are too long to use the pads of my fingers), which cracked up the salesperson in the apple store. my service has been better since getting it, and my calls much clearer. it's probably a matter of how much you utilize your phone for text messages and email anyway. which i really don't.

email yes. text no. but the email thing is a deal breaker. The iphone was arguably the worst interface I had seen, next to using a phone touchpad to write out an email. The Storm took all of the great concepts behind the iphone that werent working, and made it work...

Thanks for posting the scoop, SG. .... Just confirms that I'll be happy upgrading my Blackberry Curve to the Blackberry STORM. I have to wait some, though. It's completely sold out here and everywhere nearby me. .... I agree about Verizon, reliable and awesome!

The feedback sensor simply makes the virtual keyboard feel like a real keyboard. I picked up the Storm 5 days ago and so far, so good. As for email...BlackBerry has always been lightyears ahead of EVERY manufacturer when it comes to email. There is nobody close and probably won't be anytime soon.

Did you ever get the Storm and are you happy with it? I had the thing for two weeks and grew to hate the damn thing. The virtual keyboard never worked as it should have and really frustrated the hell out of me. I hope that if you took the plunge, you had better luck than I did. I've decided I am simply not the virtual keyboard type. I think the whole concept of a virtual keyboard sucks. I returned the Storm and got the BlackBerry Curve and couldn't be happier. Sure, the Storm has the better display, but if it doesn't function well, it's pointless. The Curve is a great device and actually does everything it's supposed to do, for half the price!

Rick, I swear to God that that's the one I wanted. Instead I got the black and silver one because that bad boy was out. Mine is so shitty that there is no model number anywhere.

I'm in the same boat as you guys... I barely like cell phones as it is. My LG flip phone is plenty good enough for me... good battery life, good reliability, sturdy, etc.

I've since learned that the cell phone itself makes a huge difference. I've had a Verizon LG phone for the past two years and had zero bars of service at my house (and yes, I did the *228 thing to update the towers). Since I got the BlackBerry Curve, I'd have three to four bars of service at all times in the same house. Very odd, but it's a very pleasing "side effect"!
