then big ten can divide the conference and have 6 teams in each division
and have playoff game to finish the season and not have 6 weeks off.
Why? The Big Ten is a fucking joke. At least Penn State made it interesting this year so Ohio State wouldn't weasel it's way into the Nat'l Championship game to get embarassed again.
As a lifelong Irish fan, I'm not opposed to ND joining a conference, just anything but the freaking Big Ten.
While this year and next year have pretty light schedules (which isn't helping cover up the fact they royally suck this year), I do think ND being an independent keeps things interesting, since about half the games each season are different from year to year. The rivalries with Michigan, USC are great, and if they want to keep playing Navy and Purdue till the end of the earth, fine, but it's fun to see a fresh schedule every year instead of the same 8 or 9 conference games every season.
As for Weis...I think he's lost his team. There
is a lot of talent there. They were winning by double digits in the losses to Pitt, NC and Syracuse well into the second half, and their late-game collapses didn't seem to be from fatigue, they just became complacent, and while I had to blame the coach for a team's problems, I feel that specific problem is firmly in Charlie's hands. I really thought after the NC and Pitt losses the single most important message to his players would be they had to play the entire game like they were fighting for their lives...obviously he failed to get that message across.
