He's one of my wife's favorites also. I think he's a good actor as well.

How's life in Philly? I think it's pretty cold up there, right?

Philly make's me think of Frank Rizzo and his great campaign slogan.

“Elect me and I'll make Atilla look like a faggot”

My son will be in Philly this week with his high school marching band instead of us! I had to go out and buy him a coat and all kinds of layers that we normally don't need here! They are marching in the Thanksgiving Day parade there!

I know!! I wish!! It was a $450/per person trip though, so for us to go as a family would have been impossible and we couldn't leave the girls for Thanksgiving. I don't think he wants us there anyway! Who wants mom and dad hanging around

Not sure what I think of this. The original was one of my all-time favorite movies. It's pretty "out of date" now (cold war based) but this remake looks wildly different.

Will wait until some reviews come in, I think.

"You're planet?" - Looks like the story line is kind of "green" in that the Earth will survive if all the humans are destroyed, so it's up to us to either kill all the alien invaders or make them believe we can fix our "mistakes". And please don't let it get all sappy and fked up like "The Happening" did. And let's hope all that destruction in the trailers is not a dream or some kind of "this is what could happen" jedi mind trick. I want to see some actual desctruction like Independence Day did. ;) lol...

The original movie was a complete departure from the "Alien Invader movies" that were common in the fifties. This one was simple: An alien ("Klaatu") comes down from space (with a giant robot) to try and convince the world to abandon their war-like ways because ... with space travel and nuclear weapons now on the scene ... earth poses a threat to the rest of the planets in the universe.

Unfortunately, humans aren't receptive. They shoot Klaatu as he walks off the ship. They refuse to listen to his diplomatic requests. They try to hunt him down when he goes into hiding. So, as a demonstration of his power to get them to listen, he shuts off almost all machines for on earth for an hour. The idea is to show the power of the other planets and serve as a warning of what could happen if earth brings warring ways to the other planets.

If this movie follows the original, you wouldn't see death and destruction because Klaatu's mission is one of peace and the people of earth are the aggressors.

Based upon what I've seen (little on plot), not sure if this movie has much in common with the original.
