Looks like Steve paid a visit to one of David Cook's recording sessions...just saw this on MSNBC...

Excerpt...
Following the “Idol” finale, Cook jumped immediately into writing sessions for his album. He recruited Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo and a team of songwriters including Chris Cornell, Brian Howes and Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls.

Cavallo compares Cook to big-voiced former Journey frontman Steve Perry, who dropped by the studio while Cook was recording.

6 months back the rumor was there would be a Perry duet on the Cook album. Aother one of those BIG rumors that we have all come to hear only to see nothing eventuate.

I'm gonna be a negative nellie. I haven't been impressed with ANY of the Idol winners/losers, actually.

Melinda Doolittle had the best voice of ANY former Idol contestent, and she's gone nowhere. And I guess Carrie underwood would have to be the one I would find myself listeing to, if pushed to make a choice.

Well obviously SP saw something special in him or why would he waste his time visiting him in the studio. I think that says a lot for David Cook and his talent.

I bet if Perry could do a duet with a stone lock guarantee that he would NEVER have to perform it live, he might go for it.

If Im not mistaken Cavallo was involved in Perry's solo career, maybe somehow affiliated with Third Rail Entertainment, his management company at the time. That plus his ties to Randy "Action" Jackson makes it completely plausible that he would have at least dropped by to check out the session.

Yep. SP was visiting Rob Cavallo, not David Cook. I think the fact that David Cook's band was there was coincidental.

[/quote] Any young, struggling artists would hit the jackpot with Steve Perry as a mentor; one of the greatest singers of all times mentoring him/her with his *get it right; get it tight attitude toward music*.

In other news, shoppers at the local Ralph's Market reported seeing Mr. Perry “allegedly” squeezing the Charmin. Stephen Ray has refused to comment about the incident. Many fans consider the Banshee wailer's silence as a sign that he is preserving his voice for an impending comeback tour in which he will unveil some hot stuff he's been working on over the last decade. More details to be released on an upcoming episode of “Ripley's believe it or not”.
