A Decade of Deen

I just wanted to congratulate Deen's 10 years now with Journey. What a ride it has been for him and doing things not many drummers would even consider, save the lead vocalist!

strange thing is he has served the longest stretch in one period besides neal, jon and ross in the history of the band without interruptions or breaks.

Yep. What a dedication to his craft and literally through thick and thin with Neal and Jon. And that's a tall order in itself.

Me too. He sure rocks up the songs with his great drumming and adds so much to the vocals. If you can't have Smitty, Deen is definitely the man for that job. A perfect fit.

Great drummer. According to HH, he was more trouble than he was worth though. The guys in the band pleaded with him to get them another drummer. He's probably grown up a little since then though.

For Journey's purposes now, I think Deen is the best fit. He can give the singer a rest if needed and can sing the songs well enough to carry a show in such a situation as they had with Augeri.

Deen is fantastic and muti-talented. I loved it when he said in an interview he's still a heavy metal drummer at heart and sometimes he gets a little carried away and Neal will give him a look and he knows to take it down a notch. But this guy loves being in Journey and loves the guys and it shows.

He never lets fans down, not to mention he has a big heart. Go, Deen.

He's my fave, so much fun to watch. Just loves what he does and it shows. :) That was a great performance and was lucky enough to get a concert call during that one. Hoping to catch him singing my all-time favorite Still They Ride LIVE sometime. Or at least a concert call.

Next to Perry`s, Deen`s is the best I`ve ever heard....great delivery. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwsN232pBHM

I agree it is fantastic. Deen is awesome on this song. When you watch Perry sing this song on YouTube, of course, his voice is perfection and better than Deen's but watching it it's more about his vocals. But on the Revelation DVD Deen's vocals are really great but it's such a powerful performance with him playing the drums, so it takes on a different feel. And it has a lot of focus on Neal and Jonathan also. Musically that performance on the DVD just blows me away. I've never seen it live  . Though, I listen to it often. It's one of Journey's best songs, in my opinion.
