Official Steve Perry MySpace page?

MBPL clued me in on this new page, and I've submitted a friend request. In light of the recent buzz that Steve is hard at work on new music, is it possible that this could really be his new official MySpace presence?

What think ye?

ANYone can create a myspace with ANY name. That one says "Legacy" all over it, so either Legacy is drumming up attention for their next pressing of his stuff, or someone was bored and decided to throw that up there thinking putting Legacy on it would legitimize it. I'm going with the latter.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I smell another myspace that's about to get shut down.

Sony Muic run site... So official in some sense yes, but Perry's personal MySpace page...not really.

Sony will release "Against the wall" and push it as a brand new album from Steve Perry, even with all the previously released material on it.

Not a chance. They shitcanned it once, so he'd probably just tell them "fuck you".
That's what I'd do.

Well if they fronted him money for the original album and he spent it, I think they can do what they want whether he likes it or not. They put out enough GH compilations with out any input or promotion from the band. The most he could do is burn the royalty checks they send him and refuse to help on remasters of the catalog, which might mean we never get any DVD's of the shows locked in Sony's vault.

He won't get the chance to say that...believe me. That album is sitting in between the audio of Curt Cobain blowing his brains out and Bob Dylan blowing his nose.

And also a very convenient way to be harassed by Internet psychos and drama queens. I credit MySpace for being a pioneer in leeching the substance out of the word "friend".

I wonder if Perry ever though about buying the Journey catalog from Sony. Anyone can buy the rights if they have the cash.

All I can say is that this is a ground floor opportunity to be a close "friend" of Steve Perry. There were only 39 others when I checked it out a while ago. Maybe I'll be #40!

I personally believe that it is, in fact, Steve's official MySpace page, and that it is being launched in advance of some kind of yet-unreleased Steve Perry music promotion.

Time will tell.

Agreed. And, as I mentiond to a couple of folks, if it is in fact a false page it will disappear very quickly. Time will tell, hmm? Oh, you just stated "time will tell," oh well.

If Perry was smart, he'd give Against the Wall to an independent label, or go straight to Itunes with it. Sony obviously wouldn't push it, so maybe Perry could just release it on his own. Doesn't make sense to just have the stuff sitting there doing nothing. Just cuz, Sony didn't like it, doesn't mean Perry's fanbase wouldn't eat it up...

Or, he could go directly through WalMart and rename it "Against The WalMart".

If he's gonna call it that, he should distribute through Target.
