I think he does a damn good job. They are playing in Saint Louis this Tuesday. I think I might check it out. It would be nice if they had Trevor Rabin, but Steve Howe rocks. Alan White and Chris Squire will be there too. I've never seen them live. It would be nice to see Jon Anderson with them, but this new guy seems to do the job very well. They sound great, I like the new guy. This music just brought back a lot of memories for me. I haven't listened to them in 20 years. Back in the day, they were one of my top five bands.

I'm a big fan of Yes...and I can barely watch more than a minute of these clips. Right up until the early 1990s they were one of the most adventurous and imaginative groups who kept pushing their sound forward. But after Trevor Rabin left it's all gradually gone to shit and this marks a new low for the band. Cash in on the rest of the anniversary - if they must - and then let it go for God's sake.

I have never liked Steve Howe's guitar style. Always sounds to me that as if he is playing across the music rather than flowing with it. For me Rabin era Yes was better, but that's the beauty of music - everyone hears something different.

The Rabin era, while great at points, is not what classic Yes fans want to hear.

The traditional Yes fan of who you speak thinks the band peaked in 1972 - and wouldn't even want to hear anything from the Relayer or Going for the One albums which feature some of Howe's best work.

Steve Howe is just a totally different type guitarists, more classical. Rabin was more techno rock.

Rabin was also an extraordinary innovator who saved the band from being clapped out old dinosaurs in 1983....just like they've become again since he left.

Let em play if they want, besides..youtube doesen't do justice compared to being there live.

Hiring a Jon Anderson tribute singer is so far from the groundbreaking and daring spirit which made this band great. Just another tired heritage band acting like a bunch of hacks.

I think most traditional Yes fans actually really like the "Going for the One" album. "Relayer" is another story but I really love that one as well, especially "The Gates of Delirium".

Hiring a Jon Anderson tribute singer is so far from the groundbreaking and daring spirit which made this band great. Just another tired heritage band acting like a bunch of hacks.

Agreed...I'm not the least bit interested in seeing them without Jon Anderson.

That guy is excellent - all they need to do now is get rid of the walking dead that is Steve Howe and get Mr Rabin back in. Oh, and do all of 90125 and big generator in concert along with all good people, wondrous stories and parallels.....just my wish......

Duncan i wish i had seen your post before i replied - i loved YES before Rabin joined - but i loved em even more after he did - he rocked them up nicely - he almost joined ASIA but didnt get along with Steve Howe. They shoulda booted Howe - Rabin would have been incredible in ASIA - he would have made them heavier and flashier.....

Factfinder- That cool $125,000 grand is gross receipts. The venue gets a good slice, transportation, advertisement, and Uncle Sam and state taxes leave them with how much? I wish Jon Anderson a return with his asthma. I think his doctor said only 6 shows. So who knows what goes on behind the scenes & who needs $$$$ more than the other.

I saw Max with GTR back in the day and he was fantastic. There are a lot of quality singers out there, but unfortunately quality and $2.10 will only get you a large Dunkin Donuts coffee. I would love to hear Max sing some melodic rock. Any idea what he is up to?

Steve Howe is very over rated if you ask me. His "lead picking" style is just weird. Sloppy, not very melodic, no emotion, etc. He's an ok rythm guitar player but his leads have always sounded very generic.

That guy isn't Anderson, but he's a decent fill in. He should have a bit better outfit (T-shirt and jeans dude?) - it was a bit too tribute for me.

I've seen many Yes incarnations (including the Big Generator in 1988). This isn't the best nor the worst, but it's decent.

I can understand not liking his style, it's eclectic for sure, but come on, you can't call him sloppy! His acoustic technique is incredible. Outside of Lindsey Buckingham, he's one of the most diverse players in rock for my money.
