What a powerful voice...amazing.... but I thought he would all that "a" stuff at the end of certain phrases/words fixed by now..

"south detroit-a" , "on and on and on-a", "strangers waiting-a", one more time-a", etc.

WTF happened to his voice? He's back to screaming and his diction issues have arisen again, almost worse than before. This is worse than the Youtube video that got him the Gig in the first place. What a nice way to rest up for the next Tour. I'm hoping he was lipping from an old performance, if not he has definitely slipped a lot vocally. :( :?

It doesn't sound clear to me, and at the end when he's going for the high notes, he's very ragged almost yelling. I saw him on the last week of the tour and he sounded better then this. He's back to sounding like a bar singer to me. I hope it's just the layoff, but you can't teach an old dog new tricks and his accent and other things may never stay away especially on these trips home when he doesn't have to speak English. Touring Asia, he can get away singing like this, but when he comes back to tour the states, the voice lessons need to come back into play.

Maybe he's promoting Steve Perry's new album "Steve Perry Presents: Journey's Greatest Hits"

"I saw him on the last week of the tour and he sounded better then this."

You really can't compare the professional sound at a show to this stage karoake event.

I know, I'm just being a fly in the oitment here, but seriously I expect a lot on the next album. The freshman effort by Arnel was halfway to platinum just because of the hype; Youtube singer, homeless boy does good + greatest hits and Dvd for 12 dollars. This next album needs to sell on quality alone. Revelations was a nice album but it wasn't great and not better than any of the first 6 Perry led albums. I want Arnel to shine on this next release, which means a lot of hard work for him and no shortcuts for the rest of the boys as far as trying to push cover songs and rejected filler from older albums. I would hope that Arnel is working out physically and using a voice coach to prepare for his next tour and future group projects. I know he's getting married but that's not an excuse for him to get lazy about his future with Journey, those guys aren't young and it can all be over in a moment, so Arnel needs to seize the moment and be the best he can be for the time being.

On a side note, I can't imagine him singing a new Revelation song by himself, that would seem like a solo effort and just wouldn't be cool in my opinion. He needs to promote Journey, not Arnel Pineda and his new album "Revelation" featuring Journey.

His voice sounded fine..if not great. But I do have to admit that it was weird just watching him sing that song alone on the stage without the band. American Bandstand-ish if you will. Please don't do that again.

I agree. He sounded good and looked great , but there's, obviously, something missing without the energy of Neal, Jon, Ross, and Deen on stage live with him. But I think he needs to make some appearances and sing Journey songs over there to promote and build excitement regarding Journey's tour date next year in the Philippines. To me, this is good publicity.

Come on, It's a Journey song and part of Revelation Album. This is a good promotion as Journey is not big in the Philippines.
And the show's sponsor Philippine Long Distance Telelephone Co(PLDT) celebrates it's 80th yr with their theme 'Changing Lives'. PLDT provides internet connection and presented Arnel how his life changed by the internet thru You tube. Singing DSB is appropriate to coincide with the show's theme and album promotion.

I guess an American Idol-style performance on daytime television helps to spread the word a bit....but this is hardly the finale of The Sopranos is it? Or is that show unknown in the Phillipines?

Solid. Not great, but solid. Having seen him 8 times this past tour I can tell you that he usually needs a song or two to warm up so I thought this was actually pretty good considering that.

Are we still talking about his accent? The dude had 69 or so concerts in the states and you barely noticed an accent so that should be the least of your worries. It *may* even be a conscious effort to add a pinoy twist to the song as he was singing to a Pinoy audience.

...that was what the two hosts (the fit lady and the fairy with a silly wig) were hinting at the end of the clip. You're not Pinoy are you? :D

I kinda disagree with this on the basis that even before Arnel became the lead singer of Journey, we can still regularly hear a Journey song on Philippine mainstream radio whereas you only hear them mostly on classic rock radio stations in America.

lol...I met a group of about 40 friends in Vegas for the first two shows, about 10 friends in Dallas, about 6 in Charlotte, about 20 in Cleveland, 10 in Chicago, 20 back in Vegas again, and a handful in New York at the NY State Fair. I think that's all of them!!! Traveling is fun. Try it.

How many shows are they doing in the RP, one? I'm not seeing any big reason to promote the group there. Album sales? With the piracy there why bother? I just want the guy to rest up for his next big tour. Karaoke performances just looks cheesy to me, especially without the band. Can you imagine Perry, Deyoung or Brad Delp doing that when they were with their bands. Write a hit song for Journey and then you can play karaoke king, but as of now, I don't think he should be doing any Journey covers without the group.
