Arnel held the first ever AP Foundation event yesterday in California. He was only there via webcam, but he did say that the 2 leading candidates to tour with Journey next year are....................Santana or Queen. He also indicated that they'd probably only do about 30 shows in the U.S. He also indicated the desire to do a fairly large AP Foundation event in Las Vegas and that he would be there.

Neal and Carlos on the same tour?!? Seems as likely as an SP album of new music. But I guess Arnel would be in a position to know such things.

Neal and Carlos mended fences long ago I think. Carlos spoke very highly of his palying not too long ago. Rolie should come and sing a few tunes for BOTH bands. :D

That's a good question. I thought Neal or Jon say they didn't wanna open for anyone again, but I could be mistaken. I say tour with Santana and have them open. And get Rolie on board.

Queen did a benefit show in front of 350,000 people in the Ukraine 2 years ago. They're not going to be an opening act for Journey.

Yes, according to an interview with Neal a while back he and Carlos have talked, they even talked about doing something together with Gregg and Michael C. (sorry, don't know how to spell his name but he was with Santana and has been with Gregg for a while now).

Either Santana or Queen would be awesome! I for one would be there!

Were you at Arnel's fundraiser, Dan? Lucky guy if you were, I hear it was invitation only.

Today is the last show of Queen's latest tour, which had 41 dates in Europe and South America, pretty much playing 15k arenas. If they tour with Journey, ticket prices may be a little expensive.

That would actually be pretty sick!!

Reb Beach on guitar for both Whitesnake and Dokken and then joining Journey onstage for a special performance of "One More" ;)

Wow...I think I would lose control of all bodily functions if this happened. (In a good way)

I was told from my inside source that they will more than likely tour with The Newly out of retirement Cars and Billy Squier.

What if Santana put out another album of guest star singers...maybe Rolie and/or Perry?
And what if Santana were to tour with Journey next year? (Btw, they played several shows together back in the 70s.)
And what if Santana were to occasionally bring in singers for different songs while on tour...maybe Rolie and/or Perry?
Would some big 'family' jam possibly occur?

later~

Out of retirement? Are we talking about the New Cars?

From what I've heard, "The New Cars" is done.

That must be pretty recent because I was just watching this interview recorded in May 2008 where Neal said he saw Carlos at a Santana reunion at Bimbo's in San Francisco a few months prior (so that must have been late '07 or early 2008) and Neal said he wanted to play with Carlos but Carlos refused to play while Neal was on stage. Neal had to leave for Carlos to play.

Even if Neal and Carlos have mended fences no way is Santana going to open for Journey, especially with Carlos having a new album out, he is going to be the headliner.

I can't believed I missed the event... was tied up with holiday activities, and went to bed early -- totally forgot about it. The people who attended in person said it was a great time, and I'm also glad to know that Journey will be doing U.S. dates next year.

Thanks for the info. I bet it will end up being more than 30 U.S. dates. No matter the plan, they always end up eventually doing more in the United States. The demand is too high to stay away. Especially if they do amphitheatres again. You basically are locked in to a circuit tour of all of those.
