Perhaps he is putting in the early work to promote a tour in the East?
You are sounding like TitoGunbot wrote:As soon as it was reported that Arnel said that touring with Queen might be an option, I tuned him out. An Asian tour starting in March is the only credible thing to be sure about. Jon Cain is the only one I might actually listen to concerning the band's future plans.
What I think is they'll work Arnel until the end of his work visa and take a long, if not permanent break as a band.

Hey Jeremey
Does is sound like they are already having problems?! Why would SteveW think they are headed for a permanent retirement?

So, what's Neal's play if they want to ditch Arnel?
I don't know that Augeri'd want back in. Ditto Jeff and Jeremey.
Yet another new YouTube discovery? Eeeeyurrrrghhhh.
Short of grovelling to Perry in an effort to get him back,
they're virtually all out of options.
Arnel's as good as it gets --and he IS good-- all-around, and at this time.
His family can be flown in, briefly, for a mid-tour visit if it gets really bad.
If Arnel can learn to not belt every note, he'll not only sing certain songs better,
but his voice will last a lot longer too, every tour, and overall.
wech.

Who is he talking to - Katie Couric? Rolling Stone Magazine? VH1 Classic? If he's talking to people in his homeland, what does it matter? Journey has never toured over there before Arnel that I am aware of, and Arnel is the local hero - not Journey.
If Arnel was here in the States talking Journey with news people, you can bet that Schon & Associates would be on it.

I personally think they'll release another album.
THEN, if the album tanks, they'll plan to go on a grand farewell tour,
after taking a break to negotiate with as many former Journey-men
willing to grace it.
That easily means more than 3 years

He DID talk about future plans to people here in the states, via webcam I believe, this past
weekend at some event. I think Dan or Rip posted about it.

I was thinking put the Journey name to bed and then Neal goes and does his own thing, whether it be bluegrass, jazz or whatever. A lot of older guitarist seem to be doing great touring by themselves, playing small clubs with an occasional guest vocalist.
