You can say that again.Gunbot wrote:you never really see him work.

I bought a CD in one of these "eco-paks" last night only to open it up and find that there is NO WHERE to put liner notes. The whole thing works like a pop-up book, tug at this, flip this up, disc falls out. If there are new liner notes they'll either be short & sweet a la "Gotcha again, fuckers!" Or visible only under a microscope. Since the only obvious place for something would be the flap.
Gunbot wrote:Maybe it will be on a static sheet that sticks to the disc and when you take it out, you can put it on your refrigerator and see it every time you open the door to get a beer.

He alread has Elvis status
He can't sing, but he still wants to have a somewhat meaningful role. He's simply not at peace with the whole can't sing anymore thing.brywool wrote:Perry IS kinda the Wizard of Oz these days...

Seriously though, it's amazing how much work Perry DOES do for a band that he reportedly wants nothing to do with. Maybe he should take over Herbie's spot. I mean, he doesn't want to sing with the band for... WHATEVER REASON![]()

, but he obviously knows what works for them and the legacy is obviously important to him. He, Cain, Schon, and yeah Arnel (deal with it!) should write some new Journey tunes. Let Arnel sing em, let Perry promote and arrange the tours. Let him manage the band. He's obviously done (unless I'm mistaken) much better financially than the other guys, so he obviously has some brains.

Hmmmmmm.................
SP only has "Elvis Status" to his fans. Hell, his solo career barely puts him above Lisa Marie Presley status.

Exactly. He alread has Elvis status, so what more could he do to improve his legacy?

Steve is Playing the supervisor card. He cleans up the older albums, the boys do the touring. The back catalog generates mega Royalties. Neal, Jon, Ross and Steve make the money. Deen and Arnel get paid like any other employee. It's all good. Think of Steve like an offsite manager, he's on your payroll but you never really see him work.
RockitRide wrote:That's the bottom line; His voice is shot and therefore he rightly won't risk dissappointing anyone. That is also why you won't hear from him again. Believe me, singers don't quit singing if they still believe they can get up in front of a crowd and not embarrass themselves. You can have all the money in the world, but you will sing if there is someone around who is willing to listen to you. I know singers who have quit, but only because they lost their voice.

Yeah, because if it weren't for SP, Greg and Neal would still be playing 18 minute Santana tunes and JC would be in Babys Act IV (probably with Arnel on lead vox). Not that there's anything wrong with that, but as good as they are in their own right, it was "the voice" that made them millions......

True. But Steve Perry at 30 was back at his stepfather's turkey farm or whatever it was. Steve Perry, as enormously talented as he was, had not made it by 30 and was giving up. So, please, come on. It goes both ways. He amade millions because of them also. The magic of the guys together writing and performing is what made all of them. Of course, his vocals catapulted them, but without them, he might have left the music business permanently and given up.
