Do you think there will be another NEW Journey CD in 2009?

:?: My guess is probably NOT, unless they hit the studio in January, which will give them a couple of months before they embark on the Asian tour.

I wonder how much material they have written while on the road this past summer?

For those that chat with Arnel on his site, why are these questions never asked? People on there seem to be too busy kissing ass... :P

They've spoken about it. It's supposed to begin around fall and have a new record the following spring/summer.

That sounds like their normal release schedule, every two years. I'm really expecting this next release to be their Swan Song so I am hoping for an A+ effort (Which means no freaking covers!).

Doesn't matter. Next project is re-recording the Time3 set.

I think this is just one of the many reasons why the Grammy's snubbed them this year. For the rock category, 51% of the album must be new material. Journey's two disc set was 54% previously released material. You can do covers and be nominated but not for your own music, especially if there have been no significant alterations to the tune. The re-records were considered part of the complete Revelation package, hence the counting of two discs towards the RIAA certification process.

Certainly didn't help them, but they wouldn't have been nominated anyway.
There was very little to no attention paid to those singles. And yeah... 10 new songs, 12 covers...

They would probably do better to re-record their prePerry albums with Arnel on vocals.

They need to record Into Your Arms with some lyrics. Arnel's voice would fit rather nicely on that one.

Yeah, I don't think the sophomore slump can apply to these seasoned professionals.

I think they should take thier biggest hit, DSB,
to whole new level and do something like Dream Theater
did a few albums back...

DT's "Images and Words" album had the fan-favorite
track "Metropolis" that hinted at a deep story.
A few albums later they released "Scenes from a Meme\ory",
a complete concept album that tells the entire story
that the original song hinted at.

Journey should make a concept album that tells the ENTIRE
story of the characters mentioned in DSB

I want to know about that small town girl and what rea;lly
happens to her on that midnight train!

And that city boy; where did HIS train take him?!?!?

The singer "in the smoky room"...
Did he ever make it big or kill over from an OD of smack?!?!?!

No...He's currently retired and loving life off of royalty checks and/or any money he still makes off of ex band-mates as they tour the world. At least that's what I heard!

LOL. Cain would need to brush up his synth chops for a prog project like that. Hilarious idea.

Would love it, but no shot in '09.
Unless they do an EP again and what would be the point?

Gunbot- Google Dennis. He was here a few yrs back doing his Huntchback and Styx era music, he is huge in Canada and keeps busy like at the taste of Blue Ash with a smyphony 225,000 attend over a weekend. My question is what the hell does Tommy and AJ think they are doing. Oh, packaging themselves with 6 -7 bands. Their writing abilities left with Dennis !

Dennis is the perfect guy to write a concept album. Add Roger Waters and Justin Hayward, you could have a monster on your hands.
