Fuck open road tolling, there shouldn't be any tolls. If I'm not mistaken Ryan started IPass anyway.

You beat me to the punch. I'll delete my thread.

A 76-page FBI affidavit alleges that Blagojevich was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps during the last month conspiring to sell or trade Illinois' U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama for financial and other personal benefits for himself and his wife. At various times, in exchange for the Senate appointment, Blagojevich discussed obtaining:

A substantial salary for himself at a either a non-profit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions;

Placing his wife on paid corporate boards where he speculated she might garner as much as $150,000 a year;

Promises of campaign funds – including cash up front; and

A cabinet post or ambassadorship for himself.

Uh-oh, is he in trouble. How stupid are politicians. So greedy. What a role model to his children :shock: . Like that Alaskan senator who was just found guilty after all those years of public service in the senate. Throw all these corrupt politicians in jail.

I agree 100%. As someone from states without tollways, let me say that for all the motherbleeping tolls there are around here, these are the shittiest roads I've EVER seen. Virginia has NO tolls yet great interstates. Same with North Carolina, and most of the other states I've driven through. Screw the tolls here. Which reminds me, my iPass is low. :roll: :P

Yes. Quickly and swiftly.

And yes, fuck open road tolling. "Open road" my ass. I don't care which of them started that (don't think it was Rod).
I have to take the hour long route at night BECAUSE of the tollway which bottlenecks... where? At the "open" road toll plaza.

Blagojevich and his stupid RTA seniors ride free program can go rot forever. That was one of the worst ideas I've ever seen get put through.

But it's not really the "open tolling" that bottlenecks it. It's the other tollway merging right at the toll plaza and the major exit on the other side. HOWEVER... the road going from like what... 10-12 lanes back down to 3-4 does NOT help. My first trip into the city from that direction last November I was stuck at that toll for almost 2 hours.

Well, it contributes significantly. That's a POOR place for that thing.

Nothing new.

There are some bigtime corruption charges against some Cuyahoga County (OH) politicians, Frank Russo and Jimmy DiMora right now. FBI conducted a massive raid back in August. When is it going to stop?

I finally found a full text story...

CHICAGO – Federal authorities arrested Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich Tuesday on charges that he brazenly conspired to sell or trade the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama to the highest bidder.

Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in the sale of Wrigley Field, according to a federal criminal complaint. In return for state assistance, Blagojevich allegedly wanted members of the paper's editorial board who had been critical of him fired.

A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.

Otherwise, Blagojevich considered appointing himself. The affidavit said that as late as Nov. 3, he told his deputy governor that if "they're not going to offer me anything of value I might as well take it."

"I've got this thing and it's f***ing golden, and, uh, uh, I'm just not giving it up for f***in' nothing. I'm not gonna do it. And I can always use it. I can parachute me there," Blagojevich said in a phone call secretly recorded by the FBI on November 5, the day after the election, according to the affidavit.

The FBI says Blagojevich wanted an appointment to the Obama cabinet as Secretary of Health and Human Services, a well-paying job or huge campaign contributions as the price for naming Obama's successor.

Blagojevich was overheard by the FBI saying "I want to make money," complaining he was "financially hurting."

He also sought a high paying job for his wife, according to the FBI. "Is there a play here, with these guys, with her" to work for a firm in Washington or New York, he reportedly said.

The FBI affidavit said Blagojevich had been told by an adviser "the President-elect can get Rod Blagojevich's wife on paid corporate boards in exchange for naming the President-elect's pick to the Senate."

Told by two other advisers he has to "suck it up" for two years, the FBI says it heard Blagojevich complain he has to give this "motherf***er [the President-elect] his Senator. F*** him. For nothing? F*** him."

The Governor is heard saying he will pick another candidate "before I just give f***ing [Senate Candidate l] a f***ing Senate seat and I don't get anything."

That one's going to get gross, ugly, and disgusting .... and thoroughly entertaining.

Jimmy Dimora lives in a 3300 sq. ft. house in a fairly upscale ($500,000 homes) neighborhood in Independence, in Cuyahoga County. (Pretty nice digs for a public servant in northeast Ohio.) Several of his neighbors have been indicted as well. Dimora was apparently steering contracts and business to a workers' comp firm owned by his son (called 1-888 Ohio Comp). He (and other Cuyahoga County politicians) were also getting freebies from contractors, including some work on their homes by some contractors doing millions of dollars of work at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Martin Sweeney, the Cleveland City Council President, is also under investigation. He's being investigated for business dealings and kickbacks with two Cleveland contractors, Blaze Building Corp. and Lopat Development Co. Frank Russo, the County Auditor, is under indictment as well. The real estate fraud that his office has been involved in will look like an episode of 'The Sopranos'. Cuyahoga County judges (who were called for favors, and paid back with trips to Las Vegas, cash kickbacks, strippers, and jewelry) will end up getting indicted (and jailed) as well. One thing that raised Justice Department curiosity is how these public servants could afford $900,000 vacation homes.

Apparently there have been upwards of 200 FBI agents investigating and involved with this one ..... Ultimately, there will be state politicians indicted as well. It's definitely going to shake-up the Democratic Party machine in Cuyahoga County.

Stay tuned .....
