I've always liked Rourke. People forget that at one time he was considered an amazing actor. I hope this vehicle can be a good comeback for him (and Marisa Tomei too! Wouldn't it be hilarious if she won ANOTHER oscar???) And if the Springsteen theme doesn't get best song, I'm leading a riot! (like him or no, the theme he wrote for this film is heart stirring.)

Anyone seen this yet? It hasn't been released in my neck of the woods.

AND- Check out the hilarious bit about halfway into the trailer where Rourke and Tomei are discussing hair metal bands and "that bastard Cobain"... reminded me of one of our recent threads!

The movie is awesome. A real story, about life for wrestlers who aren't the stars. It is heartbreaking to say the least.

Springsteen was nominated for Golden Globe Award for the song, The Wrestler, and it is pretty deep, and definitely tugs at the heartstrings. He won't win though, because he is up against Miley Cyrus. However, according to some here, he is a bigger hack than she is, so what do I know?

I'm quite excited to see it.

I hear Tomei plays a stripper and is still looking good at 45ish. Looks to be a good movie, though I haven't even seen a TV commercial for it in my neck of the woods yet.

Anybody see Year of the Dragon? It's a great Rourke film if you like Miami Vice type stories and hard hitting violence.
One of my favorites, I saw it on Laser Disc years ago.

I read that it's a great performance by him and that he should be nominated for an Oscar, and that the movie is really good but depressing.
