Is REVELATION a SENSATION in the Philippines?

How well is it doing? Still at the top of the charts there? With all of Arnel's press coverage lately, it would appear that he's now a certified MEGA STAR in his native country... BUT how is JOURNEY's REVELATION CD selling in the Philippines and for that matter, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore?
These are some of the places that Journey will supposedly be visiting on their Asian tour.....

interesting to find out either...but since piracy is so rampant in the philippines and asia for that matter (except japan and singapore), it's hard to track sales on that part of the world but i can certainly assure you that cd-r's is outpacing the original release by 100 to 1...but i could be wrong here...maybe 50 to 1 but 10 to 1 is a stretch!

For 2008 year ending totals for album sales in Japan, the only english artists in the top 100 are Coldplay, Alicia Keys and Slipknot.

Revelation fell off the the top 10 back in October, after spending 3 1/2 weeks at #1 into September.*
It debuted at #2 in early August. Sales would have been better and possibly better-sustained, if someone's
head hadn't been stuffed so far up his/her ass with regard to the release date:

I'm a fairly frequent visitor to record bars in this city, and I can tell you they were barely stocking the album for
two fucking weeks post-release. MCA-Universal did next to zero promotion, and the pirated-CD vendors
who'd been having a field day since July had an extra two weeks to make money. IMO, by the time they were
stocking it properly, too many of the folks who would've bought it .... already had.

If it's any indication...

I was into MR this noon when a major radio network's Top 5 local countdown (we're islands away from Manila) went on...For the 4th slot, I overheard the DJ blurt "It 'as made a comeback!"...referring to After All These Years :) .

Thanks for the replies....you'd think with Arnel getting so much attention on TV over there, Revelation would certainly be in the top 5, at least. I guess they love Arnel, but not neccessarily JOURNEY? :?

I guess we'll see how well the Asian tour does in March....I wonder what type of venues they'll be playing? They've never listed the specific countries either, other than the obvious.

Exile is the one of the hottest and best selling bands in Japan. A funny bit of trivia but their lead singer came from a group called the Zoo, but alas it is not Arnel's band.

From what the Japanese I know have said, Journey has been a really successful seller recently in Japan with their newest album. I purchased one, haven't opened it yet, but there's supposed to be a poster in it, plus that one track that's only been released in Japan, so far that I know of.

I'm not sure what Exile is, but the hottest and best selling bands in Japan over the say 40 or so years is 1) Carol and 2) The Golden Cups.

Love watching the Japanese chicks dancing in this vid, Golden Cups:

These two bands are considered some of the most classic of Japan in Japan.

Exile had the best selling album in Japan this year. Slipknot, Alicia Keys and Coldplay were the only Western acts to make it in the top 100 albums for Japan's Billboard total sales 2008.

No Journey? I'd listen to them any day of the week over the ones listed that did make it. Maybe I'm too old now....
