Arnel Pineda Foundation

Hi all,

As you may know, Arnel recently got his foundation up and running. The following link will lead you to pictures of his first endeavor to help the less fortunate children of the PI.

http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandin ... leid=en_US

At this time of year, I know that there are a zillion people hitting you up for your hard-earned cash. You may already have your own charities to which you already give. Also, considering the current economic climate, your personal finances may have taken a direct hit. However, if you are able and so inclined, this charity might be worthy of your consideration.

Thanks

An idea was started in a thread on JF by OnMyJourney to get 20 people to contribute $50 each for a total of $1,000. Mich also took the idea to AP's site and the combined efforts have brought in over $2,500 in pledges. Mich has done a great job of keeping this going... :)

Seriously, Arnel needs to contact Perry. I'm sure Steve would help out. I wonder if Neal or Jon has already contributed. This would be great P.R. for the band.

For myself, I've been busy with the Salvation Army here in L.A. We've got enough poor people here for me to worry about without even thinking about another country. Everyone should donate some time to their local charity organizations, which I'm sure all the Christians on this site do anyway.

Edited because I can't fucking spell.

If Steve Perry wants to help out I'm sure he doesn't need to be contacted to do so. Lora and/or Cyndy can tell him. What a fucking ridiculous idea...Arnel contacting Perry.

lol...Steve Perry is about as easy to get a hold of as Bin Laden. I highly doubt he wants to hear from the guy who is doing the job he wishes he could, but can't, do. I don't blame him.

On a side note, are you still thinking about a trip to the Islands? If you do go, take Tito with you. He has a very good chance of having a life altering experience that he won't forget.

Not sure what that's supposed to mean, but I can tell you that Tito is so cheap that he wouldn't go The P.I. for next to free yet he'd go to the local beach if they were giving away free sand.

I was thinking he might come back a changed person if he could see hardcore poverty first hand, and he might actually loosen up the strings on his change purse.

If every Filipino living in America contributed one dollar, it would dwarf any contribution you get from us gringos. There are over 2 million of them living here in the states.

My point was a lot of us contribute locally to our community, and I would expect the major donations for this foundation to come from the FilAm community first and foremost. My response was aimed at those who think we're cheap but who don't realise how much we put into our own areas when it comes to time and money, and not everyone has enough left over to save the the rest of the world when they're done.

Sure, and while you're at it make sure to call Dennis DeYoung to see if he wants to volunteer to help the Lawrence Gowan Foundation. I'm sure Dennis would be glad to help out.

I'm sure it's a worthy cause, but I'm not so sure Steve Perry would be the guy to call to ask for a donation.

While I totally agree here...that is a cool-ass picture of Gowan! He may suck (vocal-wise) for Styx, but he's every bit the keyboardist that Dennis EVER was! If he could pull of Dennis's voice...NOBODY would be bitching! He kicks ass, and takes names in concert too!!! He's awesome live...

Flushing your dump down the crapper doesn't qualify as putting something back into the community... LOL Not that the fertilizer wouldn't be good for the grass, though.

You may want to hone-up on your keyboarding skills dude! Either that, or just pay me to sit back-stage and play the hell out of those keys while you're acting like you're "playing". onstage!

Let's go in as a team -- you take the keys, and I'll handle the DDY vox. I think it's a lock.

I agree, this is getting sidetracked. The real issue is - why did Dennis DeYoung leave Styx in the first place?
