OT: The Snuggie

From my blog @ http://davekellogg.wordpress.com/2008/1 ... e-snuggie/

Dorky Product Nominee, The Snuggie

Have you ever wished you could be dorkier than you already are? Do you have problems with friends and family not making fun of you enough? Is your self-esteem too high? If you answered yes to all three questions, I have the solution for you…The Snuggie.

Image

Seriously, who is buying these things? I’ve seen the commercials all over television over the last two weeks and I can just not imagine who would buy this thing. If there’s any product that says “I’m a huge dork!!!”, this is it.

The Snuggie is basically just a blanket with sleeves. I don’t get it…I think there is already a product like this. IT’S CALLED A BATHROBE! You just buy an over-sized one and wear it backwards.

It must also be a product for those of us with hand coordination issues because the commercial states that the Snuggie solves the age-old problem of not being able to extricate one’s hands from under a blanket. Yes, there’s nothing more annoying than not being able to reach the remote in time to turn the channel so that unaware family members don’t have to view an offensive commercial like the one for the Snuggie.

Lastly, the makers of the Snuggie actually suggest that you can wear this thing at sporting events. Now I’m not a violent person, mind you, but if a buddy of mine showed up at a sporting event wearing something like this, I’d probably have to restrain myself from issuing a well-deserved beating. Fortunately, for those of us blind to our dorkdom, the Snuggie is a one-size fits all deal, so the entire clan can display their dorkiness together.

Love this post, dude! I saw this dopey commercial on TV at my mom's house about a month ago and my first thought was "What freakin' loser is buying this thing"? My favorite part on the commercial is when they showed some jackoff cooking bacon over the stove with their "Snuggie" on. Freakin' hilarious. I almost pissed myself laughing while envisioning the damn thing combusting from bacon grease. I guess the same person who buys Chia Pets is probably the same dope buying this abomination of a product. I came across the "Snuggie" in a catalog the other day. They were calling it a "Slanket". Funny shit. Thanks for the laugh.

Gee, you already have some one here offering to warm your mammies and now you'll probably get offers for freely applied body heat.

That was the one part of the commercial that made me laugh. The whole family at their kid's game wearing those stupid blankets.

That's hilarious Dave, that commercial was just on tv, and I told my daughter that I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one of those.  She said she wanted one.

Lock her up now while you can so she doesn't embarrass you further.

She holds the key to my heart. That kid could never embarrass me. Strike that. Yes she can/has.

We were at the Blackeyed Pea restaurant, I'd say about 9 or 10 years ago, and evidently in school, they had been learning about drugs, and that smoking and drinking were considered drugs as well.

It was as if she waited for the place to go silent and blurted out. "Dad, why do you use drugs?" Everyone around us heard it. I was like    I said Brooke, I don't use drugs. She, now almost whispering, said "You do too, you smoke and drink beer, and those are both drugs." Of course nobody heard that. What could I say?

You see these things all the time on the religious channels, or cult documetaries...or alien cultures on the original Star Trek. Btw, do these things have a little tie string in the back like the hospital gowns?

later~

Never heard it but it's a pretty good tune. She has a great voice.
