Gonna be movie of the year I bet

Anyone happen to catch an early screening? Can't wait for this fucking movie. Great Grandpa Dirty Harry beating up gang punks in gangland while taunting them in a voice that would make Christian Bale's Batman blush. How can you get any better?

Having seen what real Asian gangsters do here in L.A. The movie holds no real appeal for me. Like the CSI shows, I can't suspend disbelief when it comes to non ScienceFiction/Fantasy movies like this. In real life they would have kicked in Clint's door and left his head on the porch of the family he was protecting or some other nasty shit like that.

I love Clint but he can't do these rules with any justice at this time in his life, it just doesn't work.

Actually if their moms look like a MILF and are wearing jogging pants or Spandex, I tell the kids if they want to make Santa happy go behind mommy and pull down real hard so we can see her secret smile.

Man, you may be in for some disappointment. Whilst the movie is solid it's topics and message have been covered many times before and it is actually quite light on action. It's enjoyable for want of a better word and Clint is always good value but this is firmly 'made for TV' territory on a (slightly) bigger budget.

It's playing now in my city. I saw it the day after Christmas and thought it was fucking fantastic. I normally don't care for Clint Eastwood movies, but this one was great!!

Why would you want movies to be real life? Movies are fantasy...exactly what they're supposed to be.
You go to escape reality for a couple hours. If you want real s#it, turn on the news.

Lord of the rings, Star Wars, these are fantasy. With the exception of Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter, and a few others, most of Clint's movies are believable in their own way. This just has that Hallmark channel vibe written all over it. Of course that's just me and as we can see, the masses are loving i,t so I readily accept the fact that my opinion is in the minority.

My wife and I saw it last night, and it was awesome! The theatre was sold out for four shows. I highly recommend seeing it. Clint Eastwood fucking rocks.

By Joshua Rich

(Entertainment Weekly) -- Seventy-eight-year-old Clint Eastwood continues to be a big draw at the box office -- in fact, he's bigger than ever. The actor-director's latest action-drama, "Gran Torino," was No. 1 on the first competitive weekend of 2009, grossing $29 million, according to Sunday's estimates.

Clint Eastwood's latest action-drama, Gran Torino, was No. 1 on the first competitive weekend of 2009.

That's by far the highest single-weekend total of Eastwood's esteemed six-decade Hollywood career. The film has been a hit since it debuted in limited release a month ago; this was its first frame playing wide. Its total domestic sum now stands at $40.1 million.

And, with a CinemaScore grade of A and possible Oscar nominations down the road, "Gran Torino" seems fueled and ready for a long ride through theaters.

It's funny, all I could think of during the movie was how much Eastwood's character reminded me of Deano. He cusses at people all throughout the movie - friends and foes alike.
