What's your melodic rock wish for 2009?

Postby Arianddu » Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:03 pm

So now the new year is here, what would you like to see in 2009? Who would you like to see tour, release a new album, reform, hell even break up? What's your wish list?

Mine is for Journey to perform in Australia, at a show I can get to, and for Steve Perry to definately confirm a new original album is in the works. :D Wouldn't mind hearing that some of the big label execs have grown a braincell when it comes to promoting good music either
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Let's get it over with and say 'Steve Perry back with Journey, a new album and on tour'! :D

Realistically, my first wish is that Journey performs in Calgary or Vancouver so I can more reasonably afford to
go see them, and good seats! Truth be told, I'm going whether I can afford it or not - I've never seen Journey
perform live and I am not missing out on their next tour. Same for Steve Perry - if he performs live, I'll
fly anywhere and I hope there is a new CD in the works. It's time Neal put out a new solo CD with his
own vocals too. I love 'Beyond the Thunder' and 'Voice', but when I finally heard 'Late Nite' I wondered why
he doesn't sing more often - I'll take him over Clapton or Santana any day. In another thread I said that I
would like Mutt Lange to collaborate on and produce the next Journey CD in 2009.

I would also love to experience Springsteen live, so I hope he tours this year. Shania is writing for a new CD,
but I'm not sure if the release date is this year - I also want to see her perform live.

One more thing. Wouldn't it be great to find an amazing new band this year and get to follow their evolution
from the beginning? Many here were able to do that with Journey and I think they were very lucky,
heartbreak and all.

It would be great if Steve Perry came out with new music. But we will see what the boy has in store for us.

1) Journey continues with Arnel, records/releases a new album, and continues to tour.

2) Far-fetched (I know it won't happen) - do a DVD or tour similar to the YES "UNION" project (brought together all members past and present - you know Perry wouldn't show)

3) Release the Frontiers & Beyond and ROR DVDs.

4) Journey does a double-bill tour with Foreigner*
* Foreigner actually releases this "new album"

5) NO MORE JONATHAN CAIN/LEONARD/FRIGA IS GAY COMMENTS/POSTS/RANTS

6) ALL MELODIC ROCK/ARENA ROCK BANDS (JOURNEY, STYX, FOREIGNER, ETC.) FORM A COALITION AGAINST THE "ROCK'N'ROLL HALL OF FAME" IN SOME EFFORT TO ACTUALLY GET IN.

Gee, I'm not asking for too much, am I? [/b]

I second that -- quite lame.

And, of course, a new Perry album.

Thanks for agreeing, hopefully more will follow. At first it gave a chuckle, but now it's just old and sad. As for the new Perry album, it goes without saying.

1. Yes. Not too sure about the tour, but something new would be nice.

2. DEFINATELY! That would make it a good year musically.

This one is EXTRAORDINARILY far fetched, but I'd love to see Journey take the awesome Finnish power metal band Stratovarius on tour with them. Yeah, I know, would never happen, as most people don't even consider them within the same universe in musical styles, but I think it would quite likely work out perfectly. That or Timo Kotipelto & Schon collaborating on something... which is even slimmer in chances of happening. Well, that's my no-chance-in-hell MR wish.
Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. YOU GOT THAT?

Yeah it might get costly! It would probably average out to about 2 bands per show, so then it doesn't seem quite so bad. There's just a lot of bands that I haven't seen yet like Heart, Scorpions, Whitesnake, REO, Doobie Bros., Night Ranger, Loverboy, Steely Dan, etc. that I really want to see. I would also like to see Def Leppard at least twice - maybe 3x - and of course I have to see Dokken a bunch of times! Not to mention Journey, FireHouse, Starship, maybe Boston if they tour again....would love to see those bands a couple times in 09.

I wouldnt mind seeing the extensive Petrenik/ Jamision tour, and if a large boulder fell on Frankie Sullivans head Looney Tunes syle and he started feeling love for Petrenik and Jamison and joined in, that would be cool.

Right now my MR wishes are more down to earth. Id like this board to start working. Im stuck on 773 posts and it aint going up cos the board aint working. Damn it my new years resolution is to get to John Kalodner status by March 1st and Im losing precious time DAMMIT. :D :D

To see more than one Journey concert this year and for them to play People and Places.

For Gregg Rolie to join them for this year's concert tour.

To see Simple Minds. (though, not likely  .) And I hope they release their new album with the original members that's coming out in 2009 earlier rather than later.

I would also like to see Shaw/Blades.
