Have a blessed and happy 2009!

I hope this message finds everyone at MR having had a great New Years. Can I bore you all beyong recognition for just a second.....?

Yeap, went to Disneyland for NY, I videotaped and all, but nope, it did not quite turn out how I wanted. The plane was delayed coming out of the Bay Area about 2 hours. It was foggy and cold as hell in LA! Did not bring a big coat. Got to Disneyland about 4:30pm. My friend and I got our hands stamped then we rushed to our hotel about a mile away. Got dressed in costume and make up, rushed to shoot the video near the hotel to catch the remaining light of day. Ran back to the hotel, but my friend started drinking and refused to drive to Disneyland. Took a cab to Disneyland in costume with a change of clothes...got to Downtown Disneyland and within 5 minutes we were stopped by a lovely guard named Barbara who told us with the warmest, friendliest Disney smile that we would not be permitted in Disneyland in costume, that we would "confuse the children." Changed into our street clothes and quickly looked for a bar. See, but here is the thing...

"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly." Arthur Carlson, "Turkeys Away" episode WKRP. (BEST SHOW EVER!)

I took that WKRP quote to state, I swear I thought it did not matter that we were in costume on New Years Eve at Disneyland. Oh well. Anywhoo.....we tried to get drunk, but my friend the "lush" had an expired driver's license and looks young for his age, so he could not get his drink on and was mad as hell. And we left the bottles of booze he bought beforehand at the hotel. Rode a couple of rides, stayed until 12 with millions of determined psychotic rude parents pushing baby strollers in a "out of my way, bitch!" manner while dragging their sleeping, tired children all bundled up from the cold fog just to see dancing water shows and fireworks. We left the park, but got lost in the fog trying to find a cab. No cab showed for an hour, walked back to he hotel with my throbbing bunions from all the walking in Disneyland.

Happy New Years!

I will let everyone know when the New Years video will come out. Until then, here is a short video about my mother Doris. There is an upcoming exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art where some of her old photos will be featured. All the best to everyone, Lorrie Denise
