singing "Open Arms" from 1982--she said it was the best version of the song she has heard and I agree with her even though "Open Arms" isn't one of my favorite Journey songs. There's been a lot of talk about SP so thought I would post this and:

a demo of "Something to Hide" with SP singing live:

So very, very pretty. Hope you all enjoy...

Thanks, Fred, didn't know they played Japan in '82. When you think about all the concerts they played from '81-'86, and him having to sing that song in every one, SP must have been so sick of that song at the end.

From 78 until the end of the Frontiers tour, they performed at minimum 530 shows. Pretty amazing.

But he only had to sing that song from '81 on ...

I'd say Philly '86 is my favorite performance of OA. I love the way he changes it up a little. I can't seem to find a link to it on YouTube though....

boy LM- other moments in that show make me cringe... Whole lotta crackin' goin' on.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Yup, I know what you mean. I'm glad he got through OA really well all things considered.

Maybe that's another reason he wanted to end the tour. He always says he was burnt toast. I took it to mean emotionally and physically tired, in part caused by the grief over his mother. Maybe the stress of worrying about his voice played a role in it too.

Ah, nice. :D I love "Something to Hide", this is a lovely performance.

Can't stand Open Arms. It's a big hit with the fans I'm sure, but I find it too cheesy and sloppy for my taste.
