anyone catching the concert at the Lincoln Memorial?

this is pretty amazing and inspiring. we can't think of this sort of celebration in the past. obama is coming into office with our country in the worst shape in recent history. he carries the weight of the world and the hope of many on his back. i pray he is able to fix the multitude of messes we find ourselves in.

I hope this country can be turned around also but it's not going to happen unless Obama works with BOTH parties. He's not going to get anywhere if he follows what the extreme left of the Democratic party wants him to do. Judging by his cabinet picks, he's not cowtowing to them yet.

concert is live on hbo- free.

Any of my favorite bands could be playing a concert related to the inauguration and I wouldn't be the least bit interested. I just don't care for musicians doing anything politically-related unless it's just letting their music do the talking.

lol, come on dave this was a celebration of our new prez. he may very well be the first independent in office. he has resisted the extreme on both sides and if he governs from the middle he just might get something done.

Dave, that would be like saying that you don't want to hear anything from me except that which has to do with mail carrying....I'm sure sometimes you feel that way, but I also have commentary on other things to do with everyday life.

I just hate this line of thinking(logic)......funny thing, and I've said it before. Arnold is an actor, but he gets to spew his opinion on politics. Exception?

I agree, Lula. I believe Obama is going to govern from the middle more than the far right and the far left realize.

Obama is no independent. That's about like all these registered Republicans who claim to all of a sudden be independent now.

Not to interupt here, but when has Arnold used acting to show support of any party? Also, when has he played any role in a movie which was politically motivated? He's an actor and a politician, but to my knowledge he's never crossed the two...I just don't see any connection here.

he is independent when it comes to decisions. i think we finally have a president with a brain back in the white house. i believe obama to be independent with his thinking, but one who considers all sides. i know he is not an "independent" i was just pointing out what seems to be his position.

well clearly the folks that aren't happy to see the new first family moving in are unable to separate the events of the day from politics. unable to see this as a celebration of our country, our democracy and freedom, and hopefully our restoration to the greatness lost in the last 8 years, it truly is an inspiring time.

My view on this is Im not a Obama supporter and dont agree with his plans even though Im relieved that his appointments seem to indicate that hes not gonna be a far left whack job. Agree or not, he is the President of the United States, and deserves support and respect for that reason alone. Furthermore no other county whose citizens spend their time ragging on how horrible the USA is would ever have the racial harmony and social mobilty to allow a black man or woman to be secretary or state or President, and Ill suspend my disagreement with the man for just a minute in order to celebrate that fact

I can't answer for Lula, but for myself, we are in a recession, heading for a depression. These are tough times. Having voted for Obama, of course, it's more inspirational to me. But even many of my Republican friends lost faith in Bush a few years ago and are ready for Bush to be out, and hoping for improvement. Though, obviously, don't have the same belief in Obama that I do.

Did I feel this same inspiration four years ago? Hell, no. I never wanted Bush re-elected.

Eight years ago? I had nothing against him and supported him for three years into his presidency, even on issues I didn't agree with. But times were good when he came in. It could have been Gore and it woudn't have been inspirational. Times are different now as he takes office. People need hope.

8 years ago the supreme court named our president, not really the democratic way. 4 years ago was just depressing to me, a continuation of failed policies, of never ending wars, and corruption. i just don't support that sort of stuff. i don't recall inspirational events either, but please remind me if i've forgotten.

I was listening to parts of it on NPR today and was wondering myself if they were going to telecast it? I don't get HBO so if anyone sees if it's being broadcast, would love to know. I think I may just google it right now...

HBO.com has a free feed you should be able to watch later today when it's rebroadcasted.

hbo is showing it for free. we don't get hbo, but we were able to watch today. it is being rebroadcast throughout the day/eve.

You know I didn't vote for him...but how ANYONE cannot be inspired by this man is beyond me.

I will check both. I heard Garth Brooks and was really impressed--I can see why people like him. Also heard Renee Fleming and would love to see her perform so, thanks ya'll!!
