Swooning Loons........

I always feel good inside when members here discuss SP. Those of you who
speak fondly of him, speak music to my ears. As a "still green" member, I would
love to hear more stories about Steve's life and personality that have not been written
over and over on the internet. Is there a good biography book about him
written by someone who really knows, and not speculating? It seems from reading
some old threads that some of you actually worked with or near him during the Journey days.

No authorized biography has been written about SP...but, all the interviews and Q&As he's given thru Fan Asylum are all somewhere on the Net. I personally love the Q&As the most. :)

Didn't that Transylvania Chic do a Bio on Steve? Laura was her name I think.

He punches kittens and favors the company of men these days.

Canvas woes! I am awaiting some replacement support bars. I am never buying retail ready stretched canvas again and will be making my own frames from now on. Plenty of other work to be getting on with in the meantime though - practice makes perfect!

Hey, I would never hurt a cat. Unlike Perry I actually like pussies!

If the lyrics in his songs are the way he expresses himself about real things in his life, then it seems obvious that he has been
hurt very badly by women. So, if he really prefers the company of men, I wouldn't blame him. I still think the world of him no matter what his preferences.
Just wondering where you get your facts, or are you speculating because he isn't married? The pics of him holding his little cat and rubbing the kitties chin while
it sits happily next to him on the chair doesn't depict a man that "punches cats." Can you elaborate why you would say that?

It's JUST a joke. No one means that seriously. He gets a lot of blame for a lot of things that went wrong in Journey, so the joke that since "everything is his fault", he's just a monster "and he probably punches kittens too". It's just sarcasm and has nothing to do with those pictures. It has been a long running joke for awhile around here, nothing more.

We obviously need a 'read this first' sticky post for the Journey list to fill people in on stuff like 'No, Steve Perry doesn't really punch kittens', 'Friga is Jon Cain's original surname', 'No, there is no evidence that any member of Journey is now or has ever been gay (not that there's anything wrong with that)', 'Never give your cell phone number to Rockingdeano'...

The only book that I'm aware of is "Steve Perry - A Singers Journey" written by Laura Monica Cucu ("that Transylvania Chic"). I did not purchase her book, nor have I read her book, however, from the reviews I've read it doesn't appear to offer anything you can't already find on the internet. One thing that seems to be a common thread through all the reviews is that the book is poorly written and is riddled with typo's and grammatical errors.

Until SMFP himself decides to write (or co-write) a book, I don't think we're ever really going to get much more than what we already have. It appears Perry has anyone who would have any real inside "poop" on lock-down.

Why does that not suprise me? LOL! I know what your saying about cavases. I love the ones that the canvas wraps around to the back, so you can paint the sides, I hate frames on my work. I want it to be an extension of the world, a frame boxes it up. They are more pricey than regular canvases, but they are cheeper if you don't have to frame them. Plus I find they don't warp because they are built better. If you go large you have to get support bars, you can build them yourself, look on line for how to instructions. I build strip frames for most of my work that are on regular canvas, and paint over the frames.

You never told me, do you paint professionally? You are excellent you know! :D

A new DSM will come out later this year, specifically the DSM-V....within it's pages is a new condition: DID, or Dissociative Identity Disorder - better known as MPD, AKA Multiple Personality Disorder - AKA SPOON LOONIN'.....

There is no cure, and it will be from this moment forth a STIGMA.

Cure? Cure? Who the hell is looking for a cure? I'm a spoon. I know that. I've come to terms with it and all that it entails. It's not like it's a problem. I could stop anytime. I just need a little fix the get me through.

That is why I wrote this post, because us Loons need the people in the know to spill the beans and tell us things about SP that we don't know.
We are hungry to learn all that we can about the man, and there are people on this board that KNOW a hellva lot more than the new SPoons do.
I just took the most recent picture of Steve I got from the internet to this chinese lady that reads photographs and can tell a lot about a person from their picture. She said Steve is "worried" a lot, but very kind. She said the moles near his mouth means he is very wealthy. She thinks he is lonely also. It was an interesting read to hear. This women has been really spot on with other pictures I've
taken to her.

Well, the unfortunate truth is if you've spent 15-20 minutes on the internet you probably have all of the available information. If you missed it, let me recap it for you:

Born: Somewhere between 1949 and 1954 depending on which 80's teen rag interview you read. Portugese parents. Only child. Turkey ranch. Herbie Herbert. Journey. In. Out. In. Out. Loons left humping air. Somewhere in there was a love affair with sherrie Swafford (she of the "Oh, Sherrie" fame); the passing of his mother, whom he loved dearly, 2 1/2 solo albums, a rickety hip, and whipers of an illegitimate child.

Let me know if I missed anything.
