Was watching her commenting on the Inauguration when something struck me... does the think she's Drew Barrymore now? I can't remember her always talking that way, but she sounds just like her now. Is it where she's from, or is she just trying to sound youthful? It took any gravity out of anything that came out of her mouth.

I haven't seen it either but she's from Louisville, KY. I love Drew Barrymore but I don't speak like her and I've lived here all of my life. So it's apparently not where she is from that's making her sound weird. Go ahead with the KY jokes, I know they're coming.

I don't think it's Kentucky -- I always associate it with young Hollywood chicks trying to sound posh, but it comes off kinda ditzy and shallow. I like Drew, btw, but she does talk that way. And Diane Sawyer sounded exactly like her this morning... didn't used to a while back.

Agreed. I also agree that Diane shouldn't be talking that way if she's - how old? Okay, wait a minute, I saw the above clips and notice it's the lisp thing going on. Maybe she got a new bridge or something in her mouth and isn't used to it? I don't know.

Hmm... Kinda, but I wish I had the clip from yesterday. She was on the scene commenting and I'm trying to find a way to describe the speech pattern. It's kinda like putting emphasis on every syllable, so instead of saying "OFF-ice" you pronounce it "OFF-ASS". Does that make any sense?
