Ya gotta be more specific of which truth it may or may not speak.

1. Does a guy being mean(rude) mean he likes the woman?

Doubt it, probably means that's what type of person he is or is having a bad day/week etc.

2. Does a guy not calling (aggressively pursuing) mean he's not interested?

Depends, a guy could be very interested and make an effort but if the woman doesn't respond (ie. play hard to get for too long) he may move on and not come back.

I went out a woman who didn't tell me up front that she had a child (5year old) until our first date (we'd had a few conversations prior to the date). It wasn't that big a deal to me when she broke out the pictures but I thought shouldn't she be screening guys that don't want an instant family?

Anyway, we went out 3 or 4 more times. No real chemistry ever developed and I started calling her less. I told her I didn't think it was going anywhere and we stopped.

I don't know any men that are mean to women they like. I have 4 real close friends and they are all different in their behavior around women.

Myself, I am a very outgoing and friendly person. I go to a lot of concerts and am always meeting great people and sharing good conversation. In business, I am great at building rapport and relationships. But this is where anybody who knows me can tell exactly when I am attracted to a women because I will not talk at all and will avoid them at all costs. Not rude or anything just keep a good distance, and if it is business related, the conversation will be transactional only. No small talk.

No wonder I'm single.

Exactly my thoughts. The fact that people need a book or movie to tell them how to, or not to manage their love lives is pretty pitiful.

I got over the whole being mean to someone you like when I was in 5th grade. It's staggering to me how elementary people allow themselves to be.

Its not always the easiest thing to bring up, though. Major things about one's past, things like having kids, having been married, etc... I think a lot of people feel like that there's a lot attached to that and maybe don't want that to be the first thing a new person hears about them. I'm no psychologist, but I believe that the big stuff is on a need to know basis, without waiting too long if its really major, like having a child. I sure as hell don't want or need to be talking about the fact that I was married once on the first date. Maybe that's just me, I don't know. :?

I think letting someone know that you have children is a big deal. Not something that should be handled like it's an after thought. So many dating sites now allow people to reveal that info up front, and I still have friends of mine (female and male) that say they don't find out until after they meet someone, or even on their 2nd or 3rd date. From my recollection, not one of them have ended up dating that person when that has happened. And the sad part is that at least most of my guy friends are fine with the kid thing. They just can't get over someone not being completely honest with them upfront, and really wonder what it would be like if they established a relationship with someone like that.

This one sounds more promising than A LOT of the other 'goofball' movies - the ones that cater to 12 yr. old boys with gross humor.

Sounds like a really cool cast, but the "plot" ... yeesh ... every trite relationship sterotype going. Some women truly have zero interest in picking out china patterns ... and men can't all be that shallow. I predict the actors won't be able to save this.

I read a little bit about all the characters, and it's different than I thought. Some are already married and realize marriage isn't what they thought.

I read the book and it was pretty funny, and the examples they used I had seen at some point in the lives of alot of women I know, and ok, me too. I just have never understood why men ask you out at the end of a date, or say they will call and never do. I've given up on the whole thing, easier hanging out with my dogs and cats. They're always happy to see me!
:D :D :D

Here's the cast of characters:

Gigi, 30, looking for the one.
Beth: Questioning the commitment of her boyfriend of seven years.
Janine: Marriage in trouble.
Anna: Flirting with sexy married man but also has solid businessman boyfriend.
Mary: Twice divorced. Seems to always be hanging out with gay men due to her job and never seems to connect with straight men.

I happened to have a magazine here that had all the actresses in the movie and were explaining their characters. If it gets decent reviews I will go see it.
