I got this today from a friend and while I sure don't consider myself a racist, I agree with most of it.
I'm curious to think what people here think, This place is obviously a cultural melting pot and I just want to get opinions.

As a society, aren't we just too sensitive?

Anyway, read it and say what you think.

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments
in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...

Someone finally said it... How many are actually paying attention
to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian
Americans, Arab Americans, etc. And then there are just Ameri-
cans. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call
me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman' ... and
that's OK.

But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head, Sand-nigger, Camel
Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink ... You call me a racist. You say that

You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther

the NAACP. You have BET... If we had WET (White Entertainment
Television), we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day, you would
call us racists. If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.

If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance'
OUR, lives we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of
Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.

Wonder who pays for that??

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant,
but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships
...You know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US .

Yet if there were 'White colleges' That would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching
for your race and rights.

If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange,
and you're not afraid to announce it.

But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us.. But, when a white police
officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug-
dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you
call him a racist.

I am proud... But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists??

There is nothing improper about this e-mail. Let's see which of you
are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's
why we have lost most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't
stand up for ourselves!

I feel that way, too. I'm just curious as to how this e mail makes people feel, especially people of other races than my pasty-white self.

Very curious as to the reponses I'll get here. I just hope people will be honest and not be afraid to post, either way.
I really believe we're too sensitive as a society.

I try to stay away from all of the hoopla surrounding things like Black History Month, Mexican Independence Day, and the most fucking irritating one of them all, Saint Patrick's Day. I swear, everytime I see someone wearing a "Kiss me, I'm Irish" shirt I wanna fucking belt them. I'm American...period. Not Greek-American or anything else...just American. I remember when I worked for the Chicago Public Schools and we had "The Black History Bowl"...a trivia contest with kids in the school dealing with "prominent African-Americans." I informed the principal that I wasn't interested in particpipating in any capacity and he respectfully put me in Pre-K that day. Boy, was that fun.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being "proud" to be ___, but it certainly seems like caucasians have to forever pay for the sins of the KKK, the Nazis and every other perverted form of humanity that merely shared the same skin color as us...something people today are trying to put an end to. Seems highly hypocritical to me. In the end, I really don't give a fuck. I keep to myself and have no desire to push forward any agenda for any color, even my own. Whatever color that might be.

We are the majority in this country. When I go out everyday, it may not look like it here in L.A., but when you look at the whole make up of the US, even with all the minorities combined, (and throw in the illegals too) there are still more white people here in America. We still get over half of the pie. Let the minorities have the other half, We've got plenty of Holidays we brought over from Europe, plenty of TV channels that aren't minority oriented. You get the picture right? This isn't South Africa or Zimbabwe, where Whites might need their own Holidays or TV stations because the majority is African. If we start labeling things as white this or white that, we become a minority in our way of thinking, which we don't need. My bloodlines are from Yorkshire and Scotland, dating back to six years after the Mayflower landed. I don't have an inferiority complex. I know I'm not a minority or victim of race and will never accept that mentality by crying over what other Ethnic groups or nationalities get in this country.

We have "white entertainment TV." It's called ABC, NBC, CBS. Sorry, but when I watch TV I really get irritated that the majority of the shows are white with say the ONE black judge or ONE black cop or ONE black friend or same with other races. Why can't these shows be more diverse when casting? Grey's Anatomy was impressive the first year: Three black main characters, one Asian. That's how rare it is for me to notice and applaud them. Is that reality though? My company has 300 employees. 31 are asian, 24 are latino and 9 are black. I don't see group of friends walking around where half are white and half are black. That's fucking fantasy. On UPN and the WB, they had quite a few shows that had 90 percent minority casts. It didn't stop white people from watching them. 70 percent of the market for Rap and R&B is white. We don't buy shit or watch shows because of the skin color of the cast. I don't sit there and count how many minorities are on each show. They pick the best actor for that part. If the majority of actors are white, chances are better for them then the 10% of minorities applying for the same role. You have a bigger pool of talent to chose from. Don't put an actor who shouldn't win the part just so you can have cast that looks like the Rainbow.

I'm not saying half and half. I'm saying you can't have more than the one token minority as a lead or with a recurring role on most shows? Come on. It's mostly white men running the entertainment industry. If you don't think there's not racism in the entertainment industry, well, then I can't change your mind. Nothing changes until someone decides to, just like Grey's Anatomy example.

If I have a TV show about the LAPD, would you prefer that every white officer had a minority partner in his car as a second officer, Or are you saying 4 cars out of 10? Even that wouldn't be reality but would that make you feel better, what do want exactly?

Well I think it depends on the show. For example.....Cosby was about a black family. So there weren't many white people. And Brothers and Sisters (for example) is about a white family so there aren't many blacks.

My opinion is that blacks are very well represented on TV and in entertainment in general. Other minorities....not so much.

I work at a job where I deal with the worst of the bunch most of the time.Its hard at times to not be alittle racist. I try hard not to be. It seems there is always someone getting in my face about something. Im trying not to ramble on here but i can see the point they are trying to get at with this e-mail. Did that make any sense?
