Some one was saying how Journey has never performed at the Superbowl with SP and this is validation that AP is the second coming and taking Journey to a level they have never been at.
We all know that Journey played the pregame show but I decided to look back at when the first Rock Group was asked to perform. From what I can see, the first hardrock performer invited was Aerosmith in Superbowl XXXV, 2001. Now seeing how Perry hasn't toured with Journey since the end of the 80's, I'm a little confused how a Journey fan could make that comparison, since the Superbowl didn't even invite pop acts until the 1990's. That's like saying Arnel has never had anything released on 8track so that proves Perry is better than him.
I really wanted to avoid doing this, and believe me I've been critical of Perry myself on occasion, but this constant slandering and misrepresentation by supposed Journey fans needs to be dealt with. No more Mr. Nice guy, I will be calling these people out for now on.

Apparently it's not enough to like Journey with AP or go out and buy Revelation or pay for a ticket to one of Journey's shows last year. If you can not realize that Arnel is a better singer than Steve was and and will make the band more Successful than Perry ever did, well then, you are not a true fan of the band are you?

Stuff like these really puts Arnel on the crosshairs of veteran Journey fans. It is really stupid and ignorant for these people to say AP is superior. Pineda himself condone such actions. Unfortunately, AP is the one taking the brunt. He was called ugly, off-key, eyes-rolling bastard, jumps around too much, no stage presence frontman - yada yada yada.
He gets paid to do one thing, front the band as best he can possibly do. He can't top Perry and knows it too.

Arnel cannot compare to SP. Period. End of story. No debate!!

I am the biggest SA fan there is and I never once said he was better or even as good as SP.

And really, its a very small faction that's clinging to this... as proven by those online reviews about how bad it was and how it "isn't Steve Perry so..." no one cares. The fact is that the majority doesn't care. Walk up to 200 random people and ask. You are likely going to get 199 eyerolls. The album went technically gold. Big fat deal, so did Strange Medicine, since we're now loving to compare Arnel to Perry and give credit where it is NOT due (referring to the "Arnel go them to the Superbowl and Perry never did).

Let's just say 500,000 people bought FTLOSM and 500,000 bought Revelation. That's basically the truth regardless if one is gold and one is platinum.

I'm going to be brief and post once.

Steve Perry is a once-in-a-lifetime voice and not only created the sound of Journey vocally but the nuance he brings to songs is as original as they come in the music industry. And I believe Arnel would be the first to say that.

Regarding some Arnel fans posting over-the-top comments dissing Steve, I've absolutely seen those comments on fan sites for some reason feeling the need to elevate Arnel by putting down Steve Perry , and it irritates me to no end, but by the same token, I've read some viscious, unfair, and nonfactual comments about Arnel on this site. Just saying . . . . . .

The thing is, on this site, you can challenge those viscious, unfair and nonfactual comments about Arnel with people on both sides of the argument getting in the discussion and have a healthy debate without people crying that you're being disrespectful and and hurting their feelings.

They're saying Tiki Barber was the one who prepped Keith on the history of Journey, so I guess he's not totally to blame.

500k bought the Journey album because they were already at WM for other reasons.

To not have your best performance is one one thing, but to be referred to as a Karaoke contestant on a nationwide broadcast is something else entirely. Arnel has been slammed here before, but not in front of that many people.
