Anybody Watching the Grammy's?

U2 is overated. Whitney is high again and I'll be bitter that Journey would blow any performer tonight off of the stage.
Gonna be hard for me to sit through all of the rap/hip hop TRASH, but there are a few artists worth watching for. I'd watch Carrie Underwood sing happy birthday at homeless shelter!
Running commentary anyone?

The Grammys is a crap awards show and hasn't been relevant for nearly 20 years or so.

No, I have to go to another room to watch! I'll probably comment later. Is anyone betting on whether Coldplay gets served with papers?

Talkin' to myself? Thought it would be cool to jabber about the show as it goes?
Nobody?
I guess I really am an outcast!

I kinda agree, but if you consider yourself a serious music fan, I think you need to watch to see what's going on, even if you hate a lot of it, and I will hate all of the hip hop/rap stuff.
But I'll watch most of it to see what's up.

I'll bet they don't. I'm not a big fan, but I respect some of their tunes.

Rats, I was hoping a process server would rush the stage like a fan and serve them live!

I don't agree that U2 is overrated.
I thought Al Green and JT was great.
Carrie Underwood is good.
I'm looking forward to seeing Jennifer Hudson.
I wasn't even sure that was Whitney at first.....I tuned in about 1/2 way through. She looks better but still seems wacked out!!

What I dont understand is why some of these groups dont see how popular the old Rock music still is and start writing and recording some of it on there own Unless maybe they just really dont have any talent?

Um, no I don't, thank you. I didn't say U2 wasn't good. Just decide already if your a rock band, a dance band, a grunge band or what.
They have some classic tunes, but seem to have lost their identity recently.
With or without you is one of my favorite songs ever.
I think they are just trying to be relevant. You can continue to play the same style of music you have been doing for 30 years - playing to crowds at amphitheatres (Journey, Foreigner) Or you can evolve and grow, changing genres if necessary - playing stadiums (U2, Bon Jovi).

Journey is better than they've been in 20+ years. We get it, you don't like them and that's fine. But to belittle their singer and call them a joke is over the top. Now, go write Arnel is Moose's daddy on the chalkboard 100 times.

Let's not turn this into a trash U2 thread.
Those fuckers wrote some of the best songs of the rock era in the 80's. After "Escape", "The Joshua Tree" is probably my favorite album of all-time.
A band that can sell out hockey arenas (by themselves) wherever they go just doesn't suck.

Did Miley Cyrus eat a sick cat? Oh no wait, she has the singing talent of a trash bag.

Well, Coldplay got the Grammy - do you think that is an intentional slap in the face to Joe Satriani? I noticed the audience gave a standing ovation to Coldplay after they performed.

U2 has stayed relevant and I have never heard Bono blow his own horn about how great a voice he has. The have changed their sound at times, but there lyrics have stayed current, sound, and have been the voice for millions. They have set one of the highest bars around for topical rock.
Then there is Carrie Underwood...not sure what the last name is of the guy she has just boinked??? I have seen her open for Keith Urban...she shreaks more than she sings and every song sounds the same. That creepy prance she has gets old too. If Bono is unworthy of holding Steve's mic stand, Carrie isn't good enough to hold his mansack!!
Not sure you are a great litmus test for what is either good or relevant....sorry

At least she's singing and not rapping. No musical skill in rapping. Is it art? Yea. Is it music? No. No melodies, no harmonies. Just trash.
At leat Miley is trying to rock. She's 16. Give her time, Rhi, geez.

Jesus, Katy Perry has the body of a porn star. Can't really sing(which proves she can't be related to The Voice), but man she looks good.
