Wilson and Arnel...

Postby RockitRide » Tue Feb 10, 2009 11:29 am

Someone had posted that Ann Wilson was head and shoulders above the rest of the singers during last years three band concert tour. I hope she was better than the "acoustic" version of "All I Wanna do is Make Love to You" I just heard on my way into the office. God almighty, she sounded worse than that horrible skank Mellissa Ethridge. I can't believe they released that. Her voice sounded absolutely terrible. If that is how she sounds now I would not cross the street to listen to her. What the hell happened to her?

I think when women get close to 60, they lose a little bit of their vocal prowess. :D
For the record, Nancy still sounds great IMO.

I though that Ann sounded great at the Cleveland show. But I also don't think that she was any better than Arnel on that night. And Journey was still the best show of the night.

I seen them both in Indy last year. Arnel was much better than Ann. She was good but Arnel was better. The dude was on that night.

He was great in Dallas too, but so was Ann. I'd have to say it was a toss up. Man she was on fire. I was just floored.

If you get a chance to hear the version of the song I mentioned let me know if this is one time rough patch. I sure hope it was...

Sounds great. I wish Ann would lose some weight. I thought she was hot when she was thinner. It's got to suck being that heavy on a hot stage.

Ann AND Arnel (sorry Arnel haters) were great in Seattle last tour. Robin Zander (who I really like) wasn't as good as I'd seen him in the past.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

dunno, I kind of have respect for a woman who can down 20 taco bell burritos , a bucket of KFC , and then go out and nail barracuda and crazy on you. I might not find that attractive, but I have a hell of alot of respect for that !

When I saw them this summer Ann Wilson was by far the best vocalist of the night. No disrepect to Arnel he was great both times I saw him, and Journey was the better band for the evening, but Ann Wilson's voice is the best I have ever heard. And yes I have seen Perry.

Was this version even Heart? They have not performed that song in a long time and there is no acoustic version I have heard. I know that a couple of country women have covered it, and Gretchen Wilson has done it live.

Ann, and Heart was the best of the night in Houston, she kicked MAJOR ass.....

I'll give you she's the best female vocalist ever, but Perry is THE best ever, and I've seen both lots of times...

Check out Deamboat Annie Live. Came out in 2007. Pushing 60 and Wilson can STILL wail like a hellspawn banshee! Especially on their cover of The Who's "Reign O'er Me". She flat out NAILED it! Vox is doin' fine!

IMO: Ann Wilson is the Goddess of Rock! :D

Ann Wilson is one of the greatest female singers, EVER! I haven't heard the particular version that you're referring to. That said, there are some pretty horrendous performances of Perry floating around too, and there isn't a singer on the planet (man, woman, or beast) who could touch Perry in his prime. Not all performances are good ones. Ann Wilson's body of work speaks for itself. She is a BRILLIANT vocalist with raw power that very few singers, of any era, could ever come close to matching!
