Ozzfest scraped for 2009

Ozzy Osbourne's long-running traveling metal festival, Ozzfest, will not take place in 2009. A press release issued by Osbourne's publicist stated that the singer does not want to tour until he has a new album in stores later in the year, adding, "Thus, Ozzy has decided to put his namesake festival Ozzfest on hold this year." The announcement is not really surprising, given the festival's scaled-down reconfiguration as a one-day event last year after more than a decade as a full-length summer tour.
In addition to the general slowdown in both the economy and the concert business, Ozzfest began facing competition last year from the Rockstar Energy Mayhem tour and Cruefest.
Tour co-organizer Sharon Osbourne experimented in 2007 by making the show admission-free, with fans obtaining tickets through corporate sponsors. But the bands were not paid either, leading to a lack of big names.
Last year's "destination festival" took place on August 9th in Dallas and featured Metallica, Serj Tankian and others along with headliner Ozzy.
Ozzy is currently working in Los Angeles on his 10th studio album, which will follow up 2007's Black Rain. The new disc is expected in stores by Thanksgiving of this year.
Ozzy, Sharon and their kids Jack and Kelly will star in a new variety show for Fox this spring called The Osbournes: Reloaded.

I find the fact that big names won't do a free show like a slap in the face. Big names are mega-rich. And the fans put them there. And that's why I don't feel bad downloading music from PTP sites....fuck 'em.

And that Steve Perry is how long it takes to record and release an album - and Ozzy also can't even sing worth a damn anymore. If Perry's album comes out around the same time as Ozzy's as some have 'predicted' I will be more than a little surprised.

OK...I didn't hear this. Someone threw eggs at Maiden? I'm surprised Nicko didn't climb down off his kit and whoop some arse!

Yep, back in 2005 and instigated by Sharon Osbourne after offstage comments by Bruce about Ozzy offended her. There is video of Bruce performing with egg on his face literally! She also had their sound messed with during the show.

I'm betting its not a coincidence that this announcement came exactly a day after Heaven & Hell announced the exact date of their new album, also add the fact that all the other metal festivals out there that are announced so far have quite a few Ozzfest alumni, and most likely more reasonable prices. $haron probably saw that as taking too much money away from Ozzfest, and deemed it wasn't worth it, even if it would make fans happy.
Getting back to the first issue... you KNOW it has to really tick Ozzy off that he had been back with Sabbath from 1997-2005 and all that really came of that was a live album, two new studio tracks, and one new song only played on an Ozzfest, that really only exists on bootlegs now... Dio gets back with the guys, and a year and a half later is already planning and writing a new album, a year after that to be released. Yeah, Dio's got his shit together, and all Ozzy really has his solo albums. You know the H&H announcement got the competitive fires burning in Ozzy... but will do no good, as everyone knows that H&H's release will be 1000 times better. You see, they've got the secret songwriting ingredient: Geezer Butler!!!

I found an interview with Joe Benson were Steve mentioned he was working on some demos. The interview took place in 2000. I wonder if these were the same demos that Randy, Cyndi and Lora all got to hear over the last year or so?

My question is did the band know the bitch had something to do with the egg throwing and if so, why didn't they beat her fucking ass for it, or at least have the band's bitches go and beat her ass for it.

Maiden Rules. They play the forum when in L.A. and the place is always sold out. Bruce is also a pilot and flew about 200 UK citizens home from Lebanon during the Israel/Hezbollah conflict. He's a fucking bad ass.

I saw Ozzy perform in late December, and he was fantastic. Energy level was great, and his voice was fine. I was about 5 feet away from him and he put on a helluva show.
