If you use Firefox (or ie7), play this link in a background tab. That way you only judge based on sound not vision. Gramm sounds awesome on it.

He sounded very good in that clip, better than other recordings I've heard. I would definitely go to a show if it was nearby.

I personally have a hard time listening to him now. He doesn't sound anything close to Lou Gramm as we know it.

Glad to see he's doing so much better. His voice is sounding really great compared to the last clip I saw of him.

I know he's your boy and If Foreigner was doing a farewell tour I would like to see him with them as much as Perry with Journey if it was a one off to sail into the sunset, but he is just dying when i listen to this.

Sounds better than the last clip we had on here - but I think he really should retire. I would rather remember his voice as it was.
I want to give him a hug though because I can understand why he doesn't want to hang up the mic.
God Bless you Lou.

Exactly. Whenever I hear a Gramm clip these days, I have to shut it off within a minute.

This whole show is actually a huge improvement over what Lou passes for singing these days.
Tho when placed head-to-head with vinatge Gramm it def. comes up short.
Apparently Lou thought this was a particularly strong night - as the person who uploaded the footage claims he was contacted by the band and instructed to mail the footage for future promotional use.

I know he's had a lot of difficulty since the surgery but in this clip, I hear shades of his former self. Sounds like an older aged Gramm.
Definitely don't think he should hang it up if he can sound at least like this consistently.

Kinda sounds a little bit like the dude on Neal's Piranha Blues CD.

I think it is sad, not the Lou Gramm that I want to remember. Perry and Gramm had the most powerful and soulful voices in their day. Perry is doing the right thing by staying away and hope that he will never be tempted to try.

I saw Gramm back in August at a show called "Forty Years Ago Today". Lou Gramm, Todd Rundgren, Christopher Cross, Denny Lane and Bo Bice (ugh) performed the Sgt. Pepper album in its entirety. Plus they played 3 or 4 of their own songs. Gramm sounded horrible. I felt bad for the guy.

Have you heard any of his new tracks Andrew? I'm dying to hear them, because I know he's going to sound a LOT better in the studio than he does live.

That started out really bad but got better as it went on.
Love Gramm's solo work and it's a shame to see him in a diminished capacity even if he is slowly improving.

Last studio track I heard from Lou was 2006/7 and I didn't recognize the voice at all.

You're a hard marker. The only place I'd say "awful" is at 4:36 when he goes for the patented Gramm yell and there's just no gas in the tank.
As long as he doesn't try for the high notes, it seems pretty decent. His voice still has that warmth to it.

Take a listen to the original or any live performance of it from the 80s....

I give him credit for trying, not sure I would call it "awful". You're hard to please, Andrew!

Here is Lou at his best:

It's better than the Fab Four IMHO.
Lou sounds a lot better than a couple of years ago but still doesn't sound like his former self.

Only if you're measuring it to the impossible standard set by Lou himself - and even then, it's not total shit.
In fact, of all the recent performances floating out there, this is the best I've heard him.

Check him out singing "Stairway To Heaven"! This is freaking incredible!!! Man I miss this voice.

I hope there's at least a passing resemblance to this when he comes out with his new album. I'll support him either way...

He's really doing better at this than in other performances I've seen! Nice to see fighting his way back!
