Wondering how cool a solo record with Augeri ,Soto, Perry maybe even Rolie doing a number would be. Neal has wrote some great material with these guys and in the case of Rolie and Perry they are good songwriters in their own right.
Yeah i know it would lead to questions about a reunion but Neals work on Abraxis Pool produced the wonderful 'Million Miles Away' and 'Big Moon' from Beyond the Thunder was just begging for an Perry or Augeri vocal.

Personally I think Perry and Schon doing work together is a lot more likely than Perry rejoining Journey. The two obviously still have regard and (musical) respect for each other, they both know they've got better musical chemistry with each other than with anyone else, and they strike me as two people waiting for an excuse to be friends again, with neither knowing how to make the first move. The problem is that the spectre of Journey and all it entails hangs over everything they do with regards to each other. Perry is never going to re-join Journey; it comes with a hell of a lot of baggage, and every reason he left based on their work schedule, issues with fame, management, touring, etc, is all still there. An invitation to come sing/work on Schon's solo album with no pressure to tour, but maybe do a few charity gigs or the like, that's something I can see Perry finding very hard to resist. Kind of gives him the best of both worlds, and if Schon can avoid pressuring him to work with Journey again I think it's a collaboration both would find very satisfying.

Doing a number when recording is always fun, and brings out the creativity in the artists.

Can you imagine the firestorm (at least in melodic rock circles)?? I would think a Schon/Perry collaboration would be widely viewed as a Journey (mini)reunion. Should the two get together, there would be the Perry vocals and the Schon guitar...and there you have it. If the tongues were wagging at the mere appearance of the two at the same place at the same time for the HWOF thing, imagine trying to explain to the loons that, while Schon and Perry are working on a project together, they're not together-together...

Yeah, that's Journey. Hate to say it Tito . The songs might suffer a bit not having that crucial third input from Cain, but the sound would overwhelmingly sound like... JOURNEY! Unless Neal took a huge left turn and wrote songs with structures/guitars as heard on Beyond The Thunder and had Perry sing over that. Maybe that wouldn't be quite so Journey-esque.

Oh I don't know, I could see them possibly working together when the "Journey machine" is all said and done.............I know SP's got a healthy respect for Neal's talent and I think if you got Neal away from the whole J machine, they could work together again.

Which is kind of my point - the best of both worlds. They get the music without the monolith that is Journey tagged on.
