Finally gotta chance to listen to the clips Andrew posted of the new TS album. Sounds pretty freaking good to me. Not sure what everyone was whining about. It rocks.
Question- Does anyone one know if the vocals were recorded then or now?
Also, why no amazon mp3 downloads?

Vocals are old. The only thing new are the drum parts because they couldn't be salvaged. It's a good album to me too. But, to those fans who were expected something like the first Tall Stories record or like a Journey record, that it isn't. Augeri even admits that much in the interview with Andrew.

I think some traditonal TS fans will be suprised with the retro classic rock sound, but I think TS are onto something here. There are alot of new retro classic rock bands e.g. the Answer, Black Stone Cherry around these days that are doing quite well.

Just seems a bit harder to me. No big deal. Still sounds like the same band. cool. I did read that about the drum tracks, but wasn't sure about the other stuff.

I just posted this on another thread but I'll repeat it here as this seems to be a thread specifically about the album....
I've had the album playing on repeat in my car now for a week or so. Personally, I think it's one o the best 'rock' albums I've heard in ages. I'd put it alongside Rush's 'Snakes and Arrows' and Thunder's 'Bang' as my favourite three albums released in the past couple of years. Anybody expecting a waterered down version of Journey is going to be disappointed but for me it's a perfect blend of originality, melody, rhythm and power (yes, it's actually quite heavy in places). I can't wait so see more of this stuff played live.
The other thing I found pleasantly surprising about it is that there is so much going on in each song that it is easily an album I can imagine myself still listening to in six months time. So many songs nowadays sound great on the first listen, and even the first dozen listens, but quickly become tiresome and boring. Not so Skyscraper. After many run throughs in the car I'm still picking up nuances I missed initially.

thats what i found too. superman was a tough song for me to wrap my senses around, until i heard it in a shuffle with joe bonamassa's "if heartaches were nickles". it was like "i got it".

now it's definitely one of my faves.

Those are my favs too.
And although I'm not normally a ballad person, I am loving All of the World. His voice sounds so pure in it.

UGH, I hate that. It's the 21st century. I want to download it. I'll buy it, but I don't want to wait weeks for it to show up. Come on....!

'Stay' has decent chorus. And that's about it. The remainder of the CD is non-catchy. Yes, anyone expecting a Journey-like release will be VERY disappointed. I wasn't one of those people, but songs like 'Superman' left me scratching my head....
And it is not even like SA's voice is bad, because thats not the case. It is the song style. This release leaves
much to be desired....
