OT: Teen's naked pix led to suicide, mom says

Jessica Logan is in the news today because her mother Barbara Logan is bringing to greater public awareness the tragic Jesse Logan sexting suicide.
In 2008, the teen had sent nude pictures via texting to her boyfriend. After their breakup, he maliciously sent the photos to hundreds of students at the Cincinnati, Ohio high school they attended. Jessie Logan suffered vicious harassment, abuse and name calling, demonizing her as a ‘bad girl.’ As a result, she became depressed and afraid to go to school. She started skipping school, causing her grades to plummet.
Despite her travail, she bravely went public (although with her identity disguised with voice alteration and in silhouette) and appeared on a local Cincinnati TV station in May 2008 and told her story. She said she wanted to “make sure no one else will have to go through this again.”
Tragically, two months later, on July 3, 2008, Jesse Logan committed suicide at age 18; she hung herself in her bedroom.
Sexting, as Jessie Logan’s mother is pointing out, is a widespread problem. According to 2008 data from The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, 39 percent of teens are sending or posting sexually suggestive messages, and 48 percent reported receiving such messages.
Jessica Logan Biography
As a biography, Jesse Logan was 18 years old. Her parents were Cynthia Logan and Albert Logan. She was a beautiful teen who had blond hair and blue eyes. She was a graduate of Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and aspired to study graphic design at the University of Cincinnati.
In total, five teenagers have been identified as spreading the pictures of Jesse Logan to hundreds of students in the Tri-State area, far beyond the high school she attended.
Although a school resource officer at Sycamore became aware of the situation and confronted students who harassed Jessie Logan, he was unable to do anything. Consulting with prosecutors he found that there were no laws to protect her because she was 18 years old.
Her mother, in an interview said she had a final conversation with her daughter hours before her death.
