Looks like they have tuned down one half step. Wheel in the sky is down a half step for sure as well as the little 10 sec clip of Escape thats in there.

Bummer, though with this excerpt, it's hard to really hear what the heck's going on. Tuning down is the right thing to do if they want to preserve Arnel's voice, but it will definitely open the doors further for the anti-arnelians out there. They SHOULD have done that for Augeri. It's also alarming that Deen's singing more (though it's also cool). With Deen singing more, it sends the signal that all may not be well with the situation. Too bad.

It's smart of them. Deen is an awesome singer. So, to me, why not utilize him more for a few songs for a two-hour set, instead of wearing Arnel's voice down. Arnel is 41, afterall, and you could see the effects of this catalogue of music at the very end of last year's tour. It keeps Arnel healthy. Now, it is interesting if it's true, that they tuned it down one-half step at the beginning of the tour.

This clip is almost worthless to try to listen to.

Deen is the REAL MVP of this band. If they didn't have him, they would have been dead and buried already.

I think having Deen sing is a good idea and the band might be doing it to also stay consistent. This way they do not draw "more" specualtion to past practices...

The quality is so bad, I'm relying on what the other people are hearing. I still think three shows in a row before his big debut in Manila isn't the way I would have done it. You're going from cold weather to warm weather also with a day and a half of rest. I just don't get it.

I don't get it either, Gunbot. Maybe that's why they added Deen in on those three back-to-back shows b/f the upcoming Manila concert.

Deen shouldn't have to sing that many songs. That's what the three month break was for, to rest up the lead singer's voice. They've already scaled down the touring, what else do they have to do? I know people want to hear Deen sing but come on already, that's what they're paying the other guy for. This starts making me think of those shows with Augeri right before the shit went down hill.

I was just realizing that I WANT 2 songs dropped from that setlist (Open Arms and Don't Stop Believin'-which I know will never happen) and I could 'let' 2 more go (Lights and LTS) but I can live with those...although LTS as the encore???

Still, that would give me a setlist of 17 tunes that I would be very happy with.

LTS MUST GO. It's SO obvious that THEY are bored with the song too.

My best memory of the Arrival show was walking out of the concert hearing others complain that the band didn't play Open Arms and me feeling completely satisfied with the evening.

The folks in Japan got a hell of a show. That's a great setlist, for the mostpart.

You will never find something like that on his site. In his fan's world, Arnel is the greatest singer in the world. Which is fine, as long as it stays in their world.

We know Perry needed to step down on the numbers because of his voice being tired. Say that over there about Arnel, and see where that gets you. That's his site so it's expected. I'm just pointing out why it was noticed here but not mentioned there.

At least here we can debate about the issue. It might be a nasty debate but at least we have that freedom.

All right. I thought you were just getting irritated with people liking Arnel or thinking he's the best. Technically, he's great, but not the best. But then again, so was Perry. No objective way to conclude what vocalist is the "best."

The only pro-Arnel comments that irk me are the Youtube ones. But the pro-Perry ones have the same effect, a great deal of the time.

Some didn't notice it here. Plus this is a site with musicians. Over on Arnel's site that's not the case. They wouldn't really even have noticed that, if it's even true, on such a poor recording. I didn't, b/c what do I know about half steps? Nothing.

I think Arnel's a good vocalist. I'm just irked when I hear Perry sucks because he's old. No shit, what will happen to their voices when AP or S.A. or J.S.S. reach 60?

My big gripe with stepping down the music (if it's really happening) is why? If his voice can't handle it the stress, stop scheduling three shows in a row. Don't alter the whole sound, if that was an option you could have done that with Jeff for christ's sake.

They DID do that with Jeff. According to Jeff, it made some of the songs even more difficult to sing. I believe they did it for one show only.

Seriously, Journey really MUST quit scheduling their shows so close together. They have learned NOTHING from their past.
