Make no mistake who carried the tour last year!

Postby Tito » Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:00 am

I know there was some stupid debates last year claiming Heart at least was a significant part if not the draw of the tour last year. Obviously, that was total bullshit. As further evidence look who's back at Naperville's Ribfest this year - yep, Heart! The year before the tour, in 2007, they played there also. So, we know where Heart stands and where they belong. Translation, make no mistake who was the draw last year - everyone's favorite Journey.

He is too "disadvantaged" to A) understand what I just typed in code to describe him and B) unable to discern that 5-1 odds he also gets a snickers/Shit heap blast off as well. The three slam parlay, Friga/Tito/Snickers-Heap blast= 20-1

However, Tom, I wouldn't be pounding my chest like King Kong about Journey's cemented place on the touring circuit. They go out this year solo, you might not have Ribfest, but you will have Sonoma County Fair, Dixie Blue Grass days in Carthage, TN, and the Squash Festival down in Grady, South Carolina. They aren't playing United Center anytime soon.

Just keeping you in check. :)

What's the highest physical number on the Standard numeric chart?

He will probably either come in lubricated on a box of Maryland's finest "wine," and mispell "Tito" or come in and be a Rhodes Scholar and show us all up. The guy is probably designing new Clean Coal technology in the daytime and is just throwing us off at night.

Dean, I don't get you. You talk to Stevew2 like he's a friend, then you throw out this shit. There's affectionate teasing, and then there's being an arsehole.

Why would they? They drew 26,000 last year in Tinley Park in a driving rain storm, and the U.C. doesn't even hold 20k for concerts.

You know what babe, I read a hell of a lot of teasing and not a lot of affection in Dean's posts on this thread. I think he's being an arsehole, and if Dean wants to claim that he isn't, he can say it himself instead of getting his side kick to tell me to shut up.

Cheap Trick, although good, has a relatively small following nowadays. The show in Chicago probably had the most fans simply because they are from around this area. And I wouldn't say that was that large either.

I'm not knocking them at all. It's a win/win for everyone. The admission is usually cheap ($10 or less) so the fans win and the band gets their money so it's a win for them as well as maybe getting a few casual or new fans to see them for that price.

I've never had any desire to go to Ribfest because Naperville is too freaking far away, but it would be worth the drive to see Heart! I thought they were phenominal when I saw them in the '80s, and they were equally as great last year.

i was takin a hike while cheap trick was playing,I came in just in time to buy a big ass can of beer for ten bucks and looked up on the big screen and saw your fuckin faux pianist playing with them and thought "take a piss or go in and see Friga gettin his ego stroked" I took a piss, and got another big ass can of beer{which i spilled later}.I enjoyed Heart almost as much. The skinny Wilson chick is still hot, she gave me a boner{of course you would know what that is unless it is buried deep in your furrow depths}

Journey is definetly the band that drawed the majority of people and they should be they were the headliner! I will have to say though, Heart is an awesome band. Ann Wilson is just amazing live, her voice just blows you away. Cheap trick is alright, they only had a few hits in the states and not much of a following. By far though, Journey is the big attraction. I mean even despite their original lead singer, they still manage to sell platinum records. Heart or cheap trick hasnt had a platinum record since the 80s. This just proves, Journey still does have alot of fans out there willing to buy new music and are still a big concert attraction.

Cheap Trick has always been the Sh*t. HOWEVER- Rick Nielsen's playing has gotten sloppier and sloppier on each tour, which is a drag to see. I think he kind of tries to blur the line too much between his kind of 'entertaining' and playing good guitar. Bun E. still is one of my favorite drummers and Zander's one of the best rock screamers ever in my opinion. Love that guys voice. When I saw them with Journey last year, that was the first time I've seen Robin have a bit of trouble vocally. He's usually on top of his game and I've seen them a ton of times.

I saw them play at a small club in Seattle about 10 years ago and they absolutely brought the house down. They were SO damned good that night. If I remember, Eddie Vedder was in the band that opened for them (not Pearl Jam, but a side band of his) and you could tell Vedder was in awe of him, as he should be.

Sorry, I'll turn off the CT cheer leading now.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
