Weird Arnel Wiki Entry

What the hell does the last line of this section mean?

Family
Arnel's father still works as a tailor in the Philippines. His three brothers are married and live in the Philippines. Arnel supported his second to the youngest brother, Roderick (Erik), through university.

Arnel has three sons: Matthew (19 years), Angelo (11 years), and Cherub (3 years). When he's not on tour with Journey, he lives in Quezon City with his wife, Cherry, and their son, Cherub.[3] Arnel has a cousin, Ramone Pineda who lives in Hawaii and is a big fan. Ramone asserts that Arnel did not harm or injure Steve Perry (the earlier lead singer from Journey) in any way.

WTF does THAT mean? Did they have a fist fight we don't know about?

It's a play on words you dumbass Madsplash. You are holding the cards dude. You are going to be golden this year on this board. I am siding with you on your claim. However, don't be a tool.

This is a play on words, however, the author is even more stupid. If anyone was harmed, it's Pineda. Perry, or his legacy, has ruined a singer already, and is about to put Pineda out of the business sooner rather than later. He is singing a half step lower not even two years into his tenure. There is something to this folks. Pineda's shelf life is very short. He can't do this 2 more years. A half step down is a big deal. It's a move to get through a tour. it's not a move to change the music. Those of you who think it is a precautionary move, well, i won't rain on your parade, but it is a necessary move.

Perry is King, get over it.

Dude, why don't you kiss my big, hairy............Nah, that'd be too easy.
When the album comes out this year, like I said it would, I'll mail you a copy and you can shove it completely up your ass and let me know how Steve's voice sounds from that perspective.

How about that? Dude.

I agree with all you just said, Deano. Except for the dumbass and tool parts. Glad to have you on my side about my claim. It's just a matter of what the date is. I've said by November all along and still do, although it could be a few weeks or a month or two off. Small details.

You're right though, Arnel is already struggling a little. Neal and Jon will milk him for every last drop, though, won't they?

You really expect people not to make comments like that? You came onto this board from post ONE talking all about how much INSIDE INFO and how much you knew about what was going on with Steve Perry, smacked everyone in the face with the word FACT at every turn (yet you provided not one single bit of information that can be proven), and it wore thin in two microseconds.

You sure seem to take a lot of joy out of this dude. You too Deeno, which is kind of surprising considering you seemed to really dig Arnel in Vegas (I may be remembering incorrectly).

"Already struggling"- He's been doing a LOT of singing lately with his own thing and Journey. The fact is, Arnel is working more in the past year and a half than Perry has in the past 20 years. He's entitled to have a bit of wear and tear. Also, he's not showing any more signs of struggling than any other vocalist out there doing what he does, and much less than some. The band lowered the keys a half step. So what? Maybe Arnel had nothing to do with that. Maybe Journey is actually taking preventative measures for once to keep this band intact. Who knows? From Augeri's situation, it looks like something could be up, but I certainly don't hear it in Arnel's voice. For my money, though Perry is/was a vocal god, Arnel doesn't seem to be ducking any notes live with the songs in lower keys. in fact he seems to be going for a lot more higher notes not in the original arrangements (check only the young, sw, anyway you...). During Perry's solo tour, with the band also lowered, Perry ducked a LOT of the money notes AND cut his tour short. Okay, it happens.

Perry MIGHT have an album out in November. Okay, great, I'll buy it. Think he'll tour? I don't. Think the CD will be a ROCK record? I don't. Think he'll end up with Journey? I don't. Okay, big deal. I don't understand why one guy has to fail to vindicate the other.

Get over yourself. You're no hero and no one is going to congratulate you for sharing the same information we've also heard for awhile now. I heard the very same things before you ever joined this board and so have MANY others.

I don't need an "excuse". If you're right, you're right, if not, whatever. I'm not hinging my life on it like you obviously are. Its your attitude and your personality that suck, not your information about Steve Perry.

I take no joy at all in this. I like Arnel, and am concerned for his future. Perry went all of those shows and tours and didn't have to start lowering things until his FTLOSM tour. Arnel has done one tour now and it's happening. Very worrisome for him.

The difference was, Perry was in his 20s. Arnel's in his 40s. Okay, seemed like there was a bit of 'glee' in your post that he's having trouble. My mistake.

Lest you forget...the Dirty Dozen was written and composed for Perry's talents...i.e. his strengths.....Revelation was written for Arnel's. It is no wonder Arnel would struggle with material not written for his strengths.

Brian Johnson is an anomoly....stick anyone else in AC/DC and they couldn't hack ONE show. Ripper Owens is another....he just can do Halford. Again, stick David Pack in there and he ain't surviving a show.

Arnel isn't Perry. And this is not a slam, this is fact. The catalog is grueling, face it.

That's very perceptive and I'd agree with all of it. The fact of the matter is that the classic songs were tailored for Perry to sing, and even he was ultimately destroyed by them. Arnel and Perry are two different singers with two different styles; Arnel's a chameleon, true, and he has many Perry-esque qualities -- the high tenor and tone -- but ultimately, he's a different animal entirely. He's not a countertenor and is likely used to singing in a slightly lower register where he can throw some grit in. That's why there should be precious few, if any, '70s-era shit on this tour.

So like I said, a built in excuse that you already heard the info before. OK, but had you heard November 2009 before, like I've said all along? I think that's pretty much putting it on the line, isn't it.

I won't expect to be any hero and you're wrong. People are already telling me that they're happy I was right and are thanking me. Believe me my life doesn't hinge on this  .

And you know what? Your personality sucks too. Even though I don't know you and don't want to, you always have to come running in and be the neysayer of every conversation and act like every thread needs you to come in and set it straight. Trust me, you don't.

If you don't like my attitude, it's really simple. DON'T READ MY POSTS AND RESPOND TO EVERYONE OF THEM, AS YOU HAVE BEEN DOING. Problem solved. Now, I don't care if you do or don't because I can ignore you or laugh at you and roll my eyes at you like I'm used to doing with you, but if it's so bad for you to have to read all of my arrogant posts, you just shouldn't. No idea.

I realize that this may just be me, but I think AC/DC is criminally overrated. Repetitive, in my opinion, and lack all substance. Black Ice sucked, in my honest opinion. Johnson is an anomaly with a high pitch; but I've never regarded him as a truly accomplished singer compared to the likes of the true greats, who have stellar control, range, phrasing, power, ect. But I have to give him props for stamina.

I agree with everything you said. Although SP isn't "destroyed". Just lost some of his old range and many fans , like me, actually PREFER Frontiers era and after and love the last stuff we heard with TBF and I Stand Alone, which is a vocal masterpiece, IMO.

But you're right Arnel isn't SP(no one is) and the band needs to take heed of that. Maybe they are just starting to hear the strain and that's why the lowered the keys already. That'd be very smart of them to have done.

I'll tell you how in one word.....Marlboro!
He sings the exact opposite of how your taught to, all throat, and it never seems to leave him. Hell of a thing. I don't really consider BJ to be a "singer", he's a screamer. And a great frontman.

I didn't mean to insinuate that Perry is "destroyed" in that he can't sing anymore or that he was rendered mute. But on a technical level, he's nothing compared to what he used to be. He was my absolute favorite singer from 1983-1994, and I enjoyed "I Stand Alone" and TBF (which is my favorite album), but for totally subjective qualities. On objective, technical aspects, he's a shell of his former glory.

But you're right Arnel isn't SP(no one is) and the band needs to take heed of that. Maybe they are just starting to hear the strain and that's why the lowered the keys already. That'd be very smart of them to have done.

Hopefully.

Well, just to bring the topic back to point. I think the Wiki entry is making a joke because the guy lives in Hawaii and Steve Perry's hip pain started while hiking in Hawaii. Just my opinion. Please proceed with the insanity.
