Just wondering how many other fans are in here? If it's not your thing...it's cool. He is one of the most talented musicians out there today, and his music has touched millions and millions of people. I have (I think anyway) all of his cd's. Not all of his songs are great, but he does have some amazing gems. Here are a few performed live (where he really shines!). Hope you like them.

Good call Jim. I actually met MWS years ago when I was working as a DJ for a contemporary Christian radio station (my first radio gig when I was teenager). He was predictably extremely nice and gracious with his time. He came into the studio for an interview with Amy Grant, whom he was touring with that year. And yes, she was stunning.

His music is so beautiful.

Absolutely amazing voice! I've loved him since the early 90's. I was in 9th or 10th grade and our seniors' class song was "Friends". Got me hooked ever since.

I love Michael W. Smith's early stuff, couldn't stand his stuff in between, and have loved most of his stuff since the late 90s. Excellent, excellent song writer.

Every album of his has some great songs. Distinctive voice.

His Eye2Eye cd is excellent.

He is very good,its good to hear a good song writer and pianist ,and he is not even gay

He is a great Singer/Songwriter Our praise Band at Church sings alot of his music. Even the older fplks like it.

That's true- I couldn't get into the middle stuff.

I saw him last year here in Corpus. He laughed at us and said, you corpus people are cracking me up. What??? We were just standing up and singing along with every song . Like I normally do.

Then he started the praise set which turned into one very long string of songs, with no breaks in between. He sang and cried for almost an hour-as did we. It was glorious.

Healing rain is my favorite cd by him.

saw him at Creation 2005 amazing! He is a juggernaut for a reason.

Like Petra, MWS would have gone much bigger if he wouldn't have had the religious focus in his music. A lot of people are turned off by that. John Schlitt probably would have been as popular as Steve Perry if he wouldn't have gone the religious route. Now he is selling real estate and doing woodwork to try to make ends meet.

That said, I have always liked both of them - religious or not.

Schlitt's voice was incredible back in the day, nearly as good as Perry, in my opinion. That said, I think both Schlitt and Smith would tell you that they are happy where they are at and don't regret the choice of playing Christian music. Ministry is more important than fame and fortune for them.

He has the same vocal range as his brother, but for some reason he never pursued a recording career. I have an original where I played guitar, bass, and drums on it and he played keyboards and sang. His voice sounds eerily like his brother!

Smith is good enough to be in either .Place in this World made it on both charts,Amy Grant is the same way
