Was just listening to "Sex as a weapon" by Pat Benatar. Neil fucking slays in that song. The guy can play and produce music with the best of them. He has worked on a ton of different artist's albums including Working Class Dog and the Single "Don't fight it" with Kenny and Steve. I saw him and Pat last year with Berlin and Scandal and the guy just is awesome.

One of those guys that for some reason flys under the radar. He is a great guitar player and I have never heard a bad sounding song that he has produced.. I think he di some John Waite stuff and whetherr you love or hate JW his stuff always sounds good.
Maybe Geraldo would have been bigger if he had gone to Nashville and done a Lange/Huff country thang.

You know what, I really like PB back in the early 80's, but for some reason I lost track of her career. The album that those tracks come from came out in 1991!. I have seen that record so many times and past it over. Listening to it now, considering the "Swing" revival that has happened in the last few years this could have been a big selling album

He and I grew up one street over from each other.
But I never knew him, he's a pretty good amount older than me.
Ben Orr of The Cars grew up a few streets away from us, as did Billy Morris. We all went to the same High School.

Neil probably likes that he's not as famous as Schon or Santana. His licks on the PB stuff were always great.
Benjamin Orr was great. Some don't know he sang a lot of The Cars' best stuff. RIP, gone too soon.

Give the title track to In The Heat Of The Night a spin, the guy can flat out deal; from the rythm to the slide solo at then end it will absolutely floor you if you know what you're listening for.
A real innovator within the context of playing with a dominant voice, like Schon he's a stud.

Yeah, I was already a big fan of The Cars before I knew that Orr had grown up a few streets away from me, and I always preferred his singing over Ocasek's.
Orr's mother used to babysit a friend of mine when he was little.

Absolutely. For the longest time I thought Drive was the only song Orr sang. Come to find out he did most of my favorites. Ocasek stood out 'cause he's freaky looking and moves like Cosmo Kramer.

Pat Benatar! Another great artist I lost track of! I know this thread is about her husband, Neil, but I have to state this.
Pat B. and Steve Perry were two voices I was mesmerized by during the 1980's. I was the only one at house parties who would put on "Heartbreaker" or "Lovin', Touchin" Squeezin', only to hear the record scratch from someone pulling it off the turntable.
Most of the kids were into AC/DC; Metallica; Kiss, but I loved the voices of Benatar and Perry. I can't believe I have not listened to Pat for awhile. Oh well, now I will have to re-introduce myself to both Pat and Neil. Thanks!

Yes, I agree.
I believe that even Ric has said that when they wanted a really good vocal they had Ben sing it.

Defintitely pick up True Love, one of her best(Evening is my very favorite off that album, gives me goosebumps). It's one of her favorites as well, the lady has a voice for just about anything and when you team it with Neil, you just can't lose. But PLEASE NO COUNTRY ALBUM out of them....ACK!!! I could never listen to her in the same light again!
