If they're touring a new album, I'd bet one, maybe two.

They would be showcasing the new songs and then of course they have to do the dirty dozen songs.

Nah, I'd say two or three. "Never Walk Away" and "After All These Years" aren't going anywhere.

If you're referring to this year's North American tour I would guess it will be at least 3. After that probably just 1 or 2.

You know, you might be right, depending on the location. In the Asian markets, they'd surely do more of Arnel originated songs.

I don't know. After seeing this What I Needed extended version in Manila, that's a keeper. Live that song rocks. I pray they play it this tour here in the U.S.

I honestly think (if they're smart), they'll keep the same number of Revelation tunes in the set list for the US tour as they have for the Asian one. They need to escape the shadow of the Dirty Dozen; play the absolute 'essentials', but no more.

1. Don't Stop Believin'
2. Open Arms
3. Faithfully

Those three are the big ones and aren't going anywhere. Now, to a lesser extent, you have:

4. Any Way You Want It
5. Lights

They aren't nearly as important as the first three, but they were huge hits that tend to be widely accepted by the crowd. I think you could conceivably drop them, but I doubt they will. And the last of the "essentials" (a term I use loosely) are the following:

6. Only the Young
7. Ask the Lonely
8. Stone In Love

Neal obviously won't let those three go. So out of, what? A concert spanning 20-25 songs, you have 8 spots monopolized by "essential" classics. Next in priority should be immediately the Revelation songs:

9. Never Walk Away
10. After All These Years
11. Change For the Better
12. Wildest Dream
13. What I Needed

"Wildest Dream" was dropped for a great deal of the last half of the US Revelation tour, if I remember correctly. The first three were the only Revelation songs, as far as I know, that were played at every concert. "What I Needed" is 'new' to the tour, but it's met with fantastic response, and is a showcase piece allowing for a major jam session. I think they'll keep it (or at least test it out).

14. Turn Down the World Tonight.

That one is iffy; I think it's a fantastic song, but they haven't played it since Manila. If they want to push Revelation as much as possible, they should consider releasing that.

15. Mother, Father

I think they'll keep playing this one, too, since it's another "showcase piece" and the means to flaunt Deen's abilities to multitask.

That, ideally, leaves 5-10 open spots for other songs, including Augeri classics like "Higher Place." I think this is a great chance to diversify their setlist and they should take a chance to do so.

Bring in some Arrival, maybe some more TBF - how about "One More". I wonder how long it's been since that was played?

I know they've played it with Augeri, but I'd say it's been a long while.

Jesus H. Christ, I forgot "Separate Ways" and "Be Good To Yourself." Those ones that won't be removed from the setlist. Ideally, my preferred set list would be rounded out with the following:

1. If He Should Break Your Heart
2. One More
3. Message of Love
4. When You Love A Woman
5. Faith in the Heartland
6. Rubicon
7. Troubled Child
8. Let It Take You Back
9. Higher Place
10. I Can See It In Your Eyes

Not sure why anyone would refer to it as a North American tour - it's not like they're going to come to Canada. Just call it what it is - a US tour. Oh wait - I guess a Mexico date would qualify for the North American label.

Yes I'm bitter - I'm friggin' tired of waiting to see Journey grace us with their presence in Canada.

I lied. Damn; the "ideal (but practical)" setlist is impossible.

I think they might start playing "Where did i lose your love" especially since it found success in adult contemp. market. I would really like to see Journey start playing some more TBF songs like: When you love a woman, If he should break your heart, and maybe message of love.

I'd give Rhiannon to the nearest, oldest lech if they played "If He Should Break Your Heart." And Arnel kocked WYLAW out of the ballpark, but I think they need to go easy on TBF. Don't get me wrong, it's my favorite album, but it's hardly a rocking one.
