Alright, I have to admit that I don't even OWN a Manilow cd, but have always liked "Mandy"..He does have a great voice , even thought he makes Clay Gaykin look like the Marlboro man!  I would post about a Journey album, but apparently Mike saw fit to lay claim to every album they've released. Oooooohhhhh, just thought of one he hasn't...

Right here. That guy has had one of the greatest modern careers and is an incredbile performer. While he doesn't have nearly the voice that "he who cannot be named" does, he's had twice the career. The will to work, absolutely loving what you do, taking care of your voice and not having mental issues has perks.

I used to hide all my Manilow records from my friends. The guy can sing for sure I just dont like to look at him.

+1 Absolutely love Weekend in New England!
And did you know that Manilow also worked as a commercial jingle writer/singer, an activity that continued well into the 1970s. He penned many of the jingles that he performed, including those for Bowlene Toilet Cleaner, State Farm Insurance, Stridex acne cleanser, and Band-Aid, amongst others. His singing-only credits included Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pepsi, Jack in the Box, Dr Pepper, and the famed McDonald's "You Deserve a Break Today" campaign. Manilow won two Clio Awards in 1976 for his work for Tab and Band-Aid. 8)

I love Manilow, though I think his voice is a bit shot these days :P

Nothing like a bit of Copacabana to get everyone going "YAAAY" at a party.
Then later at home, they actually listen to the lyrics, and go "Oh...:("

I was wondering when Dan would see this!

One of the docs I work with loves Barry too, and recently told me (while we were razzing him about it of course, lol) that there is a Barry song with my name in it  I had no clue and was slightly disturbed to hear that  j/k

I really enjoy Barry's music as well, he was one of the first artists I ever really came to like (I think I was 9 or 10). Saw my first show last year and really enjoyed it. (http://melodicrockconcerts.com/?p=15)

I saw his show a few years ago, wasn't a HUGE fan, but loved the stage show, and the orchestra he was touring with. He's an incredible songwriter and his voice has really held up through the years.

I think "Weekend In New England" is just an incredible song.
