UNC wins... who cares or huge deal... your brackets were they already busted, or did some of you have the final four picked in full and had the final game picked correct?

For me I had 3/4 in the final four , only missing Villanova as the surpirse team. The final game had MSU vs UNC and had UNC winning. Missed the score tiebreaker by a lot. Only watched the last 10 minutes of the game as I dont care about eithert team. i finished with a 97% rating on the ESPN.com tourney challenge.

In trying to keep the ball...Gerald's hand slips off the ball and BARELY grazes TH's cheek. TH acts like it was full-on, and deliberate. Think Bird/Kareem in the '84 finals. That shouldn't have even been a foul. I guess winning trumps being fair in college sports. And TH is the biggest baby I've seen in awhile.

I think that has to do with the refs and how they call the game more than Hansbrough or anyone else. Refereeing in college basketball is the most inconsistent that I have seen in a long time. Some games they will let anything go, and others, they will call a foul if you breathe on somebody. The way the 2nd half of the game last night was called, I don't think it benefited either team, and there was simply no flow whatsoever because they couldn't play more than 30 seconds without a whistle blowing.

To some extent, I will agree with you that Hansbrough probably gets more than his fair share of calls, but I have seen plenty of games where he was absolutely mugged all game and nothing was called. In the end, I think it probably evens out.

btw, were you referring to the infamous broken nose play between Henderson and Hansbrough, or something else altogether?

I can't take your argument seriously when you bring up anything involved with crying and freakin Duke. Nobody cries more than those babies and their big-beaked coach.

Of course they've been crying more recently because their program has faded. Can't get the players anymore and can't get to the sweet sixteen anymore, let alone win the thing. Yea, TH cries as much as the Dukies.

Meanwhile the Heels and Roy Williams have one 2 titles in the last 6 years. Crying must work pretty well. And by the way, Tyler will be a crybaby mulit-millioniare next year.

I don't think anybody doubted that UNC had the talent to win, but with a one-and-done elimination competition, ANYTHING can happen. UNC went cold in the 2nd half for two consecutive games (Villanova and Michigan State). What saved them both times was an absolutely ice-cold 2nd half by Villanova, and a first-half meltdown and marginally-improved 2nd half by Michigan State.

All it took was a cold 2nd half by UNC and a chance for one of those teams to get hot (or at least shoot reasonably well), and the results could have been different. UNC also got lucky a bit by not having to play Pitt, Louisville and UConn. Not saying any of those would have beaten UNC, but they lucked out a bit by having them fall.

UNC has the talent, sure....but I don't think anyone expected Boston College to win the NCAA tournament this year, even though they beat UNC. It was just a combination of BC playing well, UNC shooting poorly and playing very little defense. Carolina's decision to play defense was what won them the championship--without it, you can have all the talent in the world, and it won't amount to much if you run into a good team.

Michigan Sate had 65,000 of the 72,000 people there cheering for them; that's as big of a home court advantage as there has ever been , they had the revenge factor and they got fucking rolled. There was one clear cut elite team in the tournament and North Carolina proved that they were that team by rolling everyone by double digits points in the tourney. So spare me the fucking half by half breakdowns and all of the other saggy-dicked excuses.

I think they were clearly the best team in the tournament. I DON'T think they were necessarily this unbeatable giant all year long. Of course they had the potential (and clearly got it together several times--especially in the tournament), but there were times during the season when they looked very beatable, and this is coming from a big UNC fan who watched probably 95% of the games this year.

Awaiting word about NBA defections. And I'm gonna tell you...if Ellington, Lawson and Hansbrough leave.....you can say goodbye for at least 3 years.....With Duke getting Curry's brother, and a big man for the low post....Devils will once again be on top of the ACC.

You might be right on that. UNC will have talent, but like Wake Forest this year, it will be very young. They will have experience in Davis, Zeller, Thompson (??), and a crop of young talent--but they will struggle at times. Youth and inexperience will do that--and losing Lawson will be more detrimental than almost anyone else as the team is only as good as its point guard.

Duke is--and has been for the past several years--one big man away from going very deep into the NCAA tournament. Without having a big presence under the basket, they are forced to live-and-die by the 3pt shot. The strategy works about 80% of the time, but come March when players are tired, Duke becomes beatable. The issue, of course, is the last several big men Duke has had haven't really improved a lot while they are there, so it's a detriment that other schools will use recruiting against them.

I figure top ACC rankings next year will be UNC, Duke, and Wake (if the big 3 stay in school). Depending on the way things fall, likely Duke for #1 (for coaching more than anything else) and either Wake or UNC for #2.

It basically boils down to the big man coach that Duke has. Basically, you have a big man coach that is unable/unwilling to develop a big man. Look at McRoberts. You could see flashes of brilliance every now and then, but he never got the full package together--and didn't get better either. 2 or 3 of those, and it becomes obvious that the issue is in the coaching that Duke isn't developing their big men very well. Word gets around pretty fast in the recruiting circles, and soon, Duke is missing on the Hansbroughs, Patrick Pattersons, Brandon Wrights, etc. Why go to Duke and regress, when you can go somewhere else that makes their big men get better and puts them in a position to succeed in the NBA??? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

Coach K is still an excellent coach, and I think he has been trying to get around that problem by going with the smaller lineup that can shoot 3s on a consistent basis with some people that can penetrate and get to the basket. It's a strategy that works about 80% of the time. It fails when you run into a team with a good interior presence that can score at will and get a lot of rebounds/altering shots/putbacks, or when the live-by-the-3-die-by-the-3 issue comes up. What Coach K needs to do is get rid of the big man coach (or move them to another place), and hire a big man coach with a good reputation for developing talent. Until that happens though, Duke will be good, but not great.

Put someone like Shelden Williams or Patrick Patterson on this year's team, and Duke would have made Elite 8 if not Final Four. They are just one missing piece away.
