Having read so many posts on this board on how authentic the band are without Perry i cannot help but wonder if some people would rather Journey just call it a day or had shut up shop after Trial By fire?
Myself as much as i loved Perry as a singer i never caught them live with the man but i am pleased they carried on so like so many people in Europe we got a chance to see and here this band with Augeri,Soto or Arnel singing.
Though i must admit after the Augeri tape gate saga it just never felt the same for me anymore and i did just wish they would put the name to rest, but Arnel is doing a great job for the band and taking the music to the people

I really, really don't get why some folks are hung up on some romanticized, largely idealized version of the past. Perry was magic and the era of the dirty dozen was a special time. However ...

My mom's in her late 80s; if I live as long as she has, I've got almost FOUR DECADES in front of me. I plan to live it to the hilt -- love the people I love unreservedly and pack in all the experiences I can. Live rock music, Journey especially, is right at the top of the list. I consider it a blessing that they and all the other classic rock bands I so enjoy are making new music and are still out there sweating their asses off under the spotlights.

I feel the same way,it wont ever be the same for me,ill go see them again but not 4 or 5 times a year and hundred s of mile a year like I used to.That was retarded to do all that anyway.people are digging what they are doing now, so its all good

Totally agree. Untimely death has slapped the shit out of my family, so I'm all about what you just stated...not holding back on love, even if it freaks some people out like you said yesterday (and even if that means losing someone because of it who doesn't understand it, something I just learned, but oh well, at least I can go to my grave knowing I let that person know I loved them) and having a blast with my family and friends. L and I have had THE most fun at all these shows the last couple years since we started going, and can't wait for more, and I'm with you....when's the next show!

Journey is in my home town this summer in DM... tickets went on sale Saturday, did I buy them no... will I maybe not... 7 years ago when they came... damn... was in line the morning they went on sale... so yes... this fan is not the fan he used to be...its the way JSS was let go...for me the last straw so to speak... its not about romancing the past of Journey and Perry but how they treated JSS... and how many are treatin Arnel that he is the next best thing, when they already had it... just my opinion... JSS saved their ASS...and what happens they fire him...

I don't have room in my life for people who want to weigh me down with their drama and negativity, so if you're not going to appreciate life and family and friends and love, and just unclench and have a good time, then hasta la vista, because there is fun out there for me to have and I intend to do so. Those who choose to share in it with me and appreciate the experience are welcome aboard. The rest of y'all, piss off.

I used to think they should hang it up. Now though, I realize that's pretty petty of me. I don't have to go to their shows or buy their material but why deprive anyone else? Even if they only play the dirty dozen every show and don't put out any new material from here on out, it would be totally within their right to make a living.

Anyway, for people like me who enjoy living in the past as far as Journey is concerned, Sony probably has some more stuff still to release, and even if they don't I have my remasters, boots and most importantly memories of great times from when Journey was on top of the world. I can't ask for more than that.

to add here... no reason to hang it up though... just keep playing until you cant play anymore... its a living... thinking of all the other entertainers around the world that go on well past 70 to sing, play and tour... all the 1950's acts that still keep going... the 60s motown sound that still keep touring... so if by all means the band can still play do it...
some day it will be over, just like the rest of us making a living at what we do.

I guess my answer is that it doesn't really matter to me one way or another if they hang it up.

It's never been the same for me since they let SA go. But others still enjoy them....so more power to them.

For me, I'm just happy that I'm through with them. It has freed up lots of time and money to see some other fantastic rock and roll shows!!!

I couldn't care less. Journey ended for me when Perry left.

I just get on here out of curiosity every once in a while, hoping a lost video has been found from the Departure tour or around that time.

EDIT... I had hopes when JSS was with them and I was excited about Journey again. Then, well you know the story.

As long as Neal's out there playing guitar live, whether it be Journey, solo, with Bad English, Soul Sirkus, JSS, SP, or whoever else, I'm happy. The brand name "Journey" never had any integrity among the musical snobs anyway, so I don't know why people believe that they have some kind of worldwide street cred with SP and lack it without him. You can't get something back that you never had. Don't like the replacement carousel, fine, but they ain't spoiling some sacred band name in the eyes of the world at large.

Given that the alternative would be perpetual stasis, I'd say that it is a relatively minor blow compared to keeping him in the band.
