He's good, but you're right about the band. Are they tone deaf or what? Listen to these backup vocals:

That's Jeremy Hunsicker right http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNJBdTgYOKc

Looks a hell of a lot like him, and sounds like him? right? even without the wig.

This is some creepy stuff going on :D

EDIT
Ok it's not, but damn what a Jeremy clone lol, wow.

I mean they aren't a road-ready band by any means, but as a bar band, which they presumably are, they don't play that badly.

EDIT: Just listened to the Sep Ways guitar solo... not a hard solo by any means and that sucked. Nevermind

Maybe he's just trying to stay "in character". Perry may have been a lot of things, but a great dancer wasn't one of them.

See what I meant... That guitar player has no business playing in even a bar band. He SUCKS and how could the other guys in the band be able to deal with it. I cant play as fast a Schon but I could play a solo at my speed that would fit the song in my damn sleep better than that guy... Errrr. The guy is a great singer and that guitar player makes them all look bad.

I'd have to here other songs to make a definitive judgment as Kelty is my fave doppelganger. Remember, SA sounded like SMFP in the first few bars of SW.....and we all know what followed.

The singer is amazing! ... covering SW & Lights (from different eras) equally good. What is his name, and where does the band play?

This band just drags to too many places. On their website they cover Styx, REO and Journey. His Come Sail Away cover is perfect, great voice, except for the beyond crappy band. He should drop the wig when doing Journey songs. On their website with up-close photos, it's fake-looking.

They are in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area in Minnesota. 8) The keyboard player is a friend of mine. The singer is Gabe Jacobs

Yeah this guy is very good, amazing vocals like Hunsicker. He's got the Steve Perry live sound down, next to Hunsicker more than anyone I have ever heard. You hear people say on the American radio or TV shows, "when you close your eyes and listen to Arnel, or even Augeri sing - it SOUNDS JUST LIKE PERRY", which is complete and utter garbage, neither of those two sound anything like Perry at all, and obviously these TV hosts, or DJ's have no idea making those insane statements. But this guy, this guy actually does sound very close (more than others).

Augeri and Arnel never sounded like Perry to me....Arnel is pretty good though at keeping the Journey sound going.

Totally Granny, agreed. I closed my eyes as well, and for the first time ever, I actually felt the Steve Perry vibe from this guy.

This guy is good for sure. I do remember however that Jason would ad-lib stuff that was just fucking amazing. This guy is by the book but good. Remember the Hopelessly in love clip I posted ? Terrible sound quality but you could hear Jason just knock it out of the fucking park and give a perfect performance with a couple of killer ad-libs that were his own.

I'd say Gabe would've been chosen if he can hit the other songs as well as these two. He's a Perry clone ala Hugo with a better voice.

Arnel can probably hit higher notes. Not sure if this guy can nail OA and some of the other pre Escape stuff but I'd love to hear it. Not to dis AP but if this guy's the real deal, I wouldn't mind hearing a record with him on it.

If nothing else, Rolie should pick him up for his band. Some sweet tunes might result.
