Hell of an album. I can put this one in my CD player any day of the week and still feel as if it's the first time I listened to it. We Will Meet Again is still my favorite off Arrival, although Higher Place and To Be Alive Again are up there too. I'd rank Arrival slightly behind Escape as my favorite Journey album.

for those who were not around journeyland in 2001... Arrival 4/4/01 if memory is right.
loved that tour with Frampton and John Waite... saw them 3 times that year.

i love ARRIVAL .. it took me forever to figure out all of the words though.. before the cd "cover" came out..
sometimes Augeri pronounces his words funny....
i remember one .. "like a dead man walking" .. over and over i played it.. what is he saying? finally figured it out..

when i saw them with Frampton ,, i remember Frampton
sitting on the edge of the stage,
right down with the audience ,, playing an acousitic guitar.. a very complicated piece..
it was very very cool..

The addition of outside songwriters really makes this album standout. Hopefully the group might try that again on the next album. It would be nice if they could get away from words like Faded Photographs and similar type lyrics. Get something fresh instead of the same generic stuff knocking around inside Cain's head. Bring Blades back and got some Rock and Roll going this next album.

Some of the titles don't look familiar. I must have the original release. To be honest, when I first listened to my copy, I enjoyed the 1st 5 or 6 songs, then lost interest when it started sounding the same.

With the exception of 2 songs, Arrival did nothing for me. Did it sell ok, or not?

Love "Signs of Life".
LOL, also took me forever to figure out he was saying "not a 'dead man walking' without you". If not for the movie, don't think they would've come up with that lyric. Good stuff though.
It initially hit me as a retrofitted version of IBAWY but doesn't much anymore. Augeri sounds great on it.

That's weird you guys had trouble catching onto that. I'm not the best at deciphering lyrics at all - I have trouble a lot, but I always got that line. It's a pretty good line, really, esp. by Journey standards

Not very good ... 250K or so, I think. It was the last on Sony's label. The same year Sony released Arrival (2001), they released The Essentials Journey (double cd), and the compilation outsold Arrival.

Essentials ended up going platinum. I think Sony was giving a big
Fuck you to Journey when they released that.

They screwed themselves too ....
Arrival was done on the Sony Label...so since that cd struggled, they could have put "Higher Place" as the last song on disc 2 of Essentials.... Showing the line up that did it like they did for all the other songs....
Some fans that bought it with zero intentions of buying Arrival could have heard it, liked it, then decide to give it (Arrival) a chance.

Since Time 3 was supposed to signify the band up to 1992, Essentials would have been the perfect vessel to pimp Arrival with, Shit, they could have packed them together for the price of one.
