Good post, the early Augeri years were fun,I thought it would have lasted forever.he had 5 good years, and got many people {me for one} back into Journey. I look for to seeing him live againJana wrote:He needs to do a solo album in the vein of Kiss Me Softly. I love the lower texture of his voice and he would shine on more of a pop/r&b/blusey type vibe solo album.
He must have felt a lot of pressure joining the band. They started from scratch with their touring with a new singer and really worked hard building up their fanbase again with Steve Augeri and going from smaller venues and eventually larger and larger venues after many years of hard work on the road. I wouldn't wish that kind of pressure on anyone following in Steve Perry's shadow with a lot riding on your voice and delivery at concerts and winning over fans. So I can see his point, they were trying to capitalize on their success each year by touring, and so you keep quiet when you know you're having vocal problems, trying to be a team player. But towards the end, the last few years, he should have taken a step back and been firm and straightforward about it. But at his age, his voice couldn't continue holding up to Journey songs touring anyway.
Glad to see he got his voice back so he can follow his passion with music and looking forward to a solo album.

tour dates ...
being scheduled, he said
JttC, good Doctor, JttC. Riiiiiight? Tickets on sale soon.

How does that make it easier for your band, let a lone a lead singer with vocal problems that knew he was doomed when it was all said and done, and expect to go out and tour the world with positive feed back? Judging from the interview, Augeri knew the wrongs and right of the situation and was willing to take one for the team to clear the path for the future, and he is defiantly sick of talking about it with the mention of "Skyscraper, Skyscraper, Skyscraper."
I hope I get the privileged to see S.A live one day.
