I'm Surprised This Board Didn't Jump On This Perry Sighting

Ross Halfin's diary from April 21 http://www.rosshalfin.com/diary/april-2 ... l-2009.php

Steve Perry @ Jeff Beck
"I spoke to singer Steve Perry for a long time after the show. The last time I'd seen him was in 1983. He was very gracious about Journey and it was a pleasure talking to him. Plus he could do a perfect impersonation of Neal Schon (in a nice way). Steve was getting pestered a bit for autographs and he didn't mind at all."

I was more interested in the Cyndy Poon sighting.

I was browsing through some of Ross Halfin's photos and saw this one of Pete Townsend:

He's not getting any younger.

It's always great to hear other artists speak so well of him after having a chanch encounter. I wonder how Perry did a take on Neal "in a nice way?"

Maybe that was before he loathed Neal!!

I don't think Perry ever "loathed" Neal. If he does, he's kept it to himself over the years. He's never said a negative word about any of them, even when the others used to constantly give interviews with barbs and digs against him. He always says nice stuff about Neal's playing.

I see that Perry was being pursued for autographs, even when other rock celebs were around, so I guess that helps answer the question a few here had about whether anybody still knows who he is or not.

Thanks for the link - I never would have seen this otherwise. Steve Perry always comes across as a class act and I've never heard of him saying a bad word about anyone. (Except perhaps for the guy who hit Neal in the head with a beer bottle or the one who hit SP in the eye with a watch, both during concerts - he had more than a few words there  ) He always speaks well of his former bandmates and continues to praise Neal's talent. Whatever his deepest feelings may be, he keeps them to himself or possibly trusted friends and that is really the best path for anyone to take.

jeff & rod hadn't performed "people get ready" together in 27 years. they hadn't performed "i ain't superstitious" since they were together in the jeff beck group, 41 years ago. i myself, have probably watched that video 50 times in the last 2 days! it was such an emotional moment.

btw, aynsley was part of the group at one point in the 60s too!

If by class act you mean words in public, I'd agree wholeheartedly. He's much more composed than his ex-bandmates. In actual deed, this is not the case. And actions speak louder than words.

Hey Cyndy,
Glad you had a great time!

I just never got interested with these artists so thanks for the perspective...
For me its just Maggie Mae or Do You Think I;m Sexy.

Good for them, always good to see men of music enjoying themselves doing their thing & what's that saying...?
Ohhh absence makes the heart grow fonder...

Too bad they couldn't do a trio with Steve Perry...

I bought Beck's album "Flash" in the 80's 'cause of that song.

Here's another good tune from it.

WOW....simply wow. Too bad knowing those two that they probably still can't stand each other long enough for a tour, but that was simply magical. Also proof that Rod Stewart can still sing very well and sound good doing it when he doesn't take it down a step or so like his normal show these days.

Thanks Cyndy hadn't realized it was that long since they both performed "People Get Ready" together. Rod Stewart has always been a fave of mine. His box set that came out years ago is great.

How do these old rockers stay so young looking? Jeff Beck is 64 years old, but he doesn't look a day over 50:

Sure. Hell, bring on Mike Reno, Michael Bolton and Fred Durst while you're at it. That oughta spice things up. 8)
