Very nice, I hadn't heard them before. Thanks.

Here's a little blast from the past. I first saw Leo Kottke in 1970 opening for Cat Stevens. What a concert!

If anyone has the inclination to spend a few cents or pence on a recommendation. You can download the track below from I=Tunes. If anyone does, put the headphones on turn off the lights, shut your eyes and get lost in an amazing piece of music.

Ok. Speed isn't everything. Check out this beautiful instrumental from Opeth. Incredible yearning sound. Yeah, I know. Most of their songs they growl a lot. But there is much more to them than that.

Nice to see a metal fan here! That's what I grew up with. Hoping to see Judas Priest and Whitesnake this summer if I still have a job. This economy sucks!

Call it cliche', but one of my favorite instrumentals is Into Your Arms off the Time 3 box set.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oidGBiWZ2kY

I always thought this would be great as background music for a movie where a long motorcycle chase is going on - intertwined with revving inline 4 and v twin (Ducati) engines.

An excellent choice. Neal sounds a lot like Satriani on this song... I've always considered them to have very similar styles. Anyway, I listen to a lot of instrumental shit, but here are some songs I've listened to today:

Serene/"calming" instrumentals:

Liquid Tension Experiment - State of Grace - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkQIR1QCSCs

Dream Theater - Eve - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCu21m-ZH28

Steve Lukather - Song For Jeff - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQo16EHFqrI

Satch - Love Thing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsDsV_lTdQg

Santana - Europa - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBDLQZgntYE

Heavier instrumentals:

Into Your Arms

Dream Theater - Stream of Consciousness - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HVhQc7foXQ

Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmo1VW_wA_o

Def Leppard - Switch 625 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEeVN1K94Yw

LOVE this thread idea!!! When I paint, draw, sculpt, etc. I primarily listen to instrumentals..from classical to anything smooth and mellow. I've already heard some music posted I haven't heard before so thanks for starting it! :D
