RESPECT WHEN POSTING

Ok folks. Now that I am back on deck and taking back my active role as moderator here, a few things I'd like to clarify and update.

First of all - this forum will always be open for topics of just about any nature and for both positive posts of support for Journey and free debate over possible points of contention. However, with all posts, I'd like some folk to show a little more respect.

The personal bitterness between some factions seems to have evened out nicely, but I'm concerned that there are still personal digs made at the actual band members. You may not agree with all decisions the band makes - and that's fine, but I think a little more respect needs to be shown when commenting on these decisions or when posting your views.

For example, the constant references to one band member being gay is both old, tired and a little sad really. Another example is the regular references to alimony payments. You guys get the point I'm trying to make here.
I put a stop to most of the personal attacks here and I’m going to do the same with any unfair attacks against the Journey members – both past and present.

These guys have been around long enough to warrant a little more respect when discussing them. Incidentally I was informed there were some references to family members at one point - something I will certainly not tolerate.

I can't read every post of every thread, so if anyone sees an inappropriate post I have not yet attended to, please PM me.

The history of this band is long and complicated and the fan base is even more so....but these few adjustments to a few folks attitudes when posting here will only make for a stronger forum and dare I say the best Journey forum online. Period.

Thanks for listening, comments welcome.

and it shouldn't be....doesn't have to be either if more people gave it. Good manners are catching... just like a smile ...so the more each of us shows some then maybe it will spread. Everything else eventually comes back into fashion so maybe some good ol' school respect and manners will too. :D

I am definitely not onboard with this new bullshit kiss ass crusade. Fuck them and fuck this. Dude, what happened to you? You lose your balls while out hiking and picking berries?

I am not happy but could give a rats ass. Journey is a distant memory anyway.

No Jubes, not at all. What Andrew is trying to do, is circumvent freedom of speech, and conform it to his satisfaction. say bullshit. Journey, nor any band, yes, E Street included, is far from perfect, and no band deserves a 100% positive board. That is hypocritical and Andy knows better.

Andrew, delete this pathetic thread asap, and go get your testes back. I am shocked and embarrassed you would sell out to Neal and Friga like this. No, it doesn't have to be bash bash bash, but it doesn't have to be undenying worship either.

PS- Fuck off Robbie G.

Is this how you want to play this?

Why should we the fans show them respect? Based on what? Did they show us any respect after many of us spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a lipped synced show or 50?

Your response?

Don't be a drama Queen Deano. Nowhere have I stated this is to be a kiss-ass forum. I don't want that and I doubt too many really do.

To be honest, I'm stunned that a person of your self declared intellect can't tell the difference between my request for arguments to be put with some manner of respect and no personal jibes, over a free-for-all where good points get lost due to the nature in which they are put.

Got a complaint? STATE IT, but there's no need to bring up personal issues or insults.

I am definitely not onboard with this new bullshit kiss ass crusade. Fuck this.

One reason?
Because Andrew requests that people be a little more polite around here and it's his website ...his business. He isn't saying no one can be in disagreement with what the band does...in fact he said so in his post.... he just requests people be a little more respectful of others in how they state their opinions. The degrading of appearances or what goes on in their personal lives has been entirely ridiculous and has nothing to do with their actions as a band or the music. Also many comments directed to each other on here have went well beyond crossing all lines of appropriateness and respect for others.

It's a very reasonable request and the reasons he gave are more then enough to convey what he wishes....so why don't you, as a guest here, consider someone other than yourself and only your rights. Respect Andrew and honor his request by dialing it down a few notches. .....you don't have to be so loud about it to be heard.....if you say things in a little better way then maybe more people will actually stop, listen and consider your viewpoints rather then quickly changing the channel or turning you off. Just my opinion, which you don't have to adhere to, of course, but it would be nice if you could at least consider someone else's view from looking in. :)

"For example, the constant references to one band member being gay is both old, tired and a little sad really."

I agree with that statement, Andrew. It was funny in small doses, but had gotten to the point it was in every thread and every post. It got very old reading it everywhere all the time. Anything irreverent in small doses is humorous, but overkill loses any impact.

Don't get ahead of yourself and be in la-la land. This place will never be a lovefest. Debate and total difference of opinions and preference of singers and off-color remarks filled with sarcasm is what the place thrives on and will continue to be. If it's not an Arnel lovefest and no bad language, most plokkers don't want to be here.

There's my cue I guess.

There you go again the minute someone voices their disagreements to your actions. You take off. Dang it Dean! Why don't YOU grow some like you rudely said to Andrew! Stop playing that game!
People simply want to read what you have to say without you tearing them apart with complete crudeness if they disagree with you and try to discuss something with you! And not all women here appreciate being disrespected ,...addressed inappropriately and trashed and embarrassed as a thread topic. Not everyone here likes the Howard Stern approach! You have to give some consideration to others sometimes, ya know?

No one is asking you to leave and you know it! Just asking you to be a little more respectful of others.
I know you can be...and I know you can be very funny without trying to be so Sternish so much too. Your intelligent and have contributed much to the board with your knowledge. Use your intellect and think about what is really being said here instead of jumping the gun, jumping Andrew, or anyone else, and then jumping ship like a little kid if everything doesn't go your way. There are rules of conduct..in the military, in society....Andrew has requested very nicely that people respect each other a little bit more in his house...you should respect that request and him a bit more. If you don't see that as a reasonable request and that it's not a gag order just an adjustment towards more appropriate behavior for the benefit of ALL....something most can understand... then I don't know what else to tell you....go start your own board then..or your own radio show if you want to totally do your own thing all the time without thought towards anyone else. Jmo. 8)

Everyone is welcome, but a lovefest becomes boring quickly and with this band there is always enough to debate to keep things interesting. And bad language is also part of this site - myself included sometimes - just keep it respectful :P

Hence, I guess the reason Journey forum has 522,000 posts and Styx has 56,000.
