Um - it's been a few months since I saw the movie (which I thoroughly enjoyed) - but I don't believe he limited his interviews or 'fun-poking' to Christians - I recall at least a couple of interviews with Muslims and others. Have you actually seen the movie???

Someone asked me if I had seen the movie. No. But I have seen Marher to 'his thing' on TV enough to get a pretty clear picture. I doubt Maher would show the same contempt for the the Koran and Mohammad as he does with the Bible and Jesus. And the reason certainly is not because Maher is 'brilliant'. The reason is that if he aimed his utter contempt at the Koran and Mohammad the same way, his life would be in danger. Also, Maher would never even deal with a real theologian. God forbid that he would be shown to be a dolt. And again, the reason he wont deal with Muslims is not because they are 'dumber then Christians'. His problem is lack of guts. There is a better, more descriptive word then guts, but you get the picture.

It is one thing to have religious faith and worship, and make it a serious part of your life. It is quite another to take it to the point wher you wish to amend government to force it to conform to your beliefs, demonize those who do not agree with you, demand you hve the freedom to choose your beliefs but condemn the choices of others when they do not agree with yours.

IMO, if you really had faith in your beliefs, you wouldn't be so angry whith Mahr's opinion.

Nah, I'm not ranting at all. And I'm not angry either. Where did I say I want to "amend government to conform to my beliefs'? How did you imagine I said such a thing? Where did I 'demonize' Bill Maher? The Bill Mahers of the world are a dime a dozen, and last I checked, the Constitution gives Bill Maher the right to say whatever he pleases to say. I haven't even demanded I have the freedom to say a word. I'm thankful I do, but those freedoms can be taken away. Many countries dont have the type of freedom we have here. Where did say I say he doesn't have the right to free speech? My comment had to do with who Bill Maher targets, and how easy it is to attack a group of people who wont fight back. And obviously 'if' they DID, then they are 'ranting and demonizing Bill Maher, and trying to 'amend the government to silence Bill Maher'. I'm a devout Christian and I'm not ashamed to say so. I believe Jesus Christ died for all of our sins and provided a way of salvation for all of us. I'm not a perfect Christian, but I try my best to live as how Christ would have me to live.

Now, I can't speak for any other faiths that Bill Maher has made fun of, so I'll just speak from my point of view. If Bill Maher wants to make his millions making fun of Christians, let him go ahead and do so. In the end, he's only hurting himself. He's not hurting the Christian population. In fact, we already knew ahead of time that there would be people mocking us, making fun of us, and alienating us from the world. It's not going to stop us from standing up for our beliefs. I just feel sorry for those who feel the need to support such an idiotic display of entertainment. Those people, in my humble opinion, appear to be more easily swayed than those they accuse of being "brain washed". We can be super sensitive to race, nationality, and sexual preference, but religious beliefs are a free for all? It's a glaring hypocrisy of the world that all nonbelievers will argue up and down doesn't exist.

What I've said all along is this: It's easy to be a nonbeliever and live your life without limits, without morals, and without any regards for your fellow man. But, it takes a real man to live for Jesus Christ.

Are you saying all nonbelievers live their lives without limits, without morals and without any regards for their fellow man? I know plenty of Christians who go to church, but yet one taught Sunday School and cheated on his wife and was verbally abusive. I can name many more Christians who go to church and don't walk the walk. My brother is not religious. His wife is and their children are raised in the Catholic faith. My brother is the most moral person I know, honest, caring, was a great son, and great asset to the community, tremendous husband and father. Because he doesn't believe in God doesn't make him any less of those things or living his life without morals as your statement implies. My other brother believes in God and Jesus Christ and is an asshole and was a selfish son and father.

I find many Christians to be judgmental. One of my best friends, though, found a new-found faith in God and became very involved in church. not just a Sunday morning attendee. But he embodies what a Christian should be. He was the least judgmental person I know. He came over to visit his mom and wanted to go out with a group of us dancing. One of my friends where I worked was wild and had a mouth on her like you wouldn't believe, F'k this, F'k that. I worried about him and how he was reacting to her. When he was leaving he raved about her and saw the good in her, not the negative. I was stunned, but realized that's really what believing in God should do, make you less judgmental, not more. But, sadly, that's not the case for a lot of "religious" people..

He's not just asking questions. He makes a lot of really hateful statements about people of faith. He thinks they are imbeciles. That kind of condescending elitist crap is a turn off to me. I am not personally religious but the people I know who are, are the nicest and most generous people I know.

True. My relatives in south Georgia on my mother's side (She had nine brothers and sisters, so I had many cousins) are very religious, and they are all kind and generous. Small southern towns rock for hospitality.

I haven't seen this film, but I would be interested to know if this guy is making fun of religion or just questioning it? If the latter i have no issue with that at all. Religion should be challenged at every opportunity.

Yours is a very true statement.....he is a very sad (sometimes funny) little man.
I don't hate the guy....but anyone who cannot see God's hand on this planet and in this vast universe....is simply denying the truth to themselves.

Simply I can only say this .... I will not be the one making the final decision on him and others like him. I'm merely stating my own personal beliefs (which I am entitled to..as well as yourself) and opinion. The bible is quite clear on this particular subject.

Without going into a serious discussion on faith..this board is not the place for that.
